Has anyone else came across this?
Hello Everyone, WHEN the new price cap was announced and I worked out my expected DD paying a little extra so that my end of 12 months would be as close to zero as possible, after going through Shell app and realising that I couldn't reduce to the number required I emailed and within a couple of days I was called and it was agreed that Shell accepted my proposal and received email from Shell confirming this. Last week I receive an email stating my new DD was increasing from my agreed by Shell figures but these figures are based for the next 18 months? I have sent an email and am awaiting a reply but is this a new thing or is it totally illegal, Thank You for reading, Tommy

At this point in the year you should expect to be (maybe) 2/3/4+ months in credit. (I'm currently 3 months in credit) If you've zero-ed your account your supplier will want to ensure you can pay your winter month bills with no problem by increasing your DDs#2 Saving for Christmas 2024 - £1 a day challenge. £325 of £3660

There have a couple of posts from Shell users about raising direct debits recently. I don't know what formula they are using for sure, but am assuming they are attempting to project future prices once the government discount ends early next year and prices shoot up again.
There's arguments for and against this tactic obviously, though I tend to agree that anything they can do to reduce any debt a customer may find themselves in at the end of their tariff by paying a little more now rather than a lot more come March.0 -
Hi Folks, MY bill average for the past 3 months has been around £40-50 per month, MY account is in credit by aprox. £230 and this does not consider my £ 66-67 government allowance and my DD at £50, this was agreed by telephone and email confirmation that I had worked my figures out on the next 12 months for the information that I had at the time and agreed by the company. I also informed them that when April 1st 2023 came around I would look at the status of my account and would be in contact with them to come to an agreement for future payments, As for how they work out DD'S there website and the information relayed to this website and every other energy company work on 12 months but they go against everything and quote 18 months, anyone who can point any information regarding 18 months DD'S I would appreciate it. Many Thanks Tommy0
