PIP and Access to Work - are they linked processes?

I just got a decision letter saying that my PIP had been maintained - this without an assessment. Phew!
However, the timing of it has made me wonder as I just had an Access to Work assessment which was very similar to a PIP one. Are those two separate processes now linked? Or is it just coincidence?

No, they are not linked in any way.

As Poppy has already said they are not linked in any way whatsoever. AtW case manager at DWP or an external provider?"You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "2

AtW would presumably use the existence of a PIP award as evidence of a need where relevant. If anything it would be weird not to. The two departments are nothing to do with each other though.2

DWP will of course have access to your information, doesn't mean its relevant or they are sharing it with the external provider, as Spoonie says its quite likely that one sometimes follow on from another."You've been reading SOS when it's just your clock reading 5:05 "2

My first AtW assessment did not look at day to day impact on work in detail but more the nature of the work that I do and what I need. The recent one has been very different and when asked if I was willing to share the report with my employer, I didn't hesitate to say yes, based on my previous experiences. If I had known to which level of detail they got into, I would have said no!Or maybe my first experience wasn't what it should have been !Thanks for your insight everyone
