Business Energy Relief Scheme

Options
We are a small business, and our energy bills are now astronomical.  We are being charged £1.09PKWH by Yu Energy.  On the last bill there was an option for a claim through the BERF, but this was listed as £0.00.  I have spoken to my local MP who has sent me the link on Gov.uk to the BERS information which as far as I can see cap's business energy (electricity) to £210 per megawatt of power (.21ppkwh) therefore I have no idea how Yu Energy can now be charging me £1.09ppkwh. Has anyone else had a similar thing - I have spoken to Yu Energy who have told me that there is no cap on business energy.  I am trying to move away from them but am now in a situation where I am not going to pay £1.09pkwh but I can't move until the bill is settled - leaving me in a catch 22!  Any help would be gratefully received.

I recently had to get a new Gas contract and managed 19.8ppkwh.

The government scheme takes a certain amount off so basically leaves me with circa 13ppkwh to pay. 80,000 units a year. This is done automatically, you do not claim.

The standing rate is £1 something a day. Are you sure that's not what you are seeing rather than the kWh price?

There definitely is support for business energy though it works slightly differently, but I think a lot of the companies are only just getting round to figuring out how it works.

When did you take out your contract with Yu are you on a fixed rate or a variable rate?

I'm not sure if they can stop you changing suppliers because you haven't paid your most recent bill but if you do change you will still have to settle the bill with Yu.
