Not sure if it's a cat but we live in a close and not a lot of houses in it. We live right at the top of the close.
There is onlt one house with a dog, big dog down at the other end and they take that for a wlak to the park off the main road and never come our way and I've seen them on the main raod picking up their dog poo

next door had a problem with poo on their drive they though it was a cat I felt it was a small/mid sized dog and then it happend to a few others on the close and never on their grass/etc but blocked driveways
A week ago there was poo under our big SUV its quite high off the ground.
This morning the poo was a few feet away from the  front door and looked the same as the one under the car and more than a cats

I've heard and read cats often cover their poo and will do it on grass/soil/gravel drives

Is this a cat or someone with a dog coming into our close at night with a small dog on one of those extending leads as I've seen people with smaller dogs on very long extendable leads allowing their dog to poo and look the other way pretending not to see it

Do you think its a cat or dog

My question is there a gadget you have tried and worked on cats/dogs, please? (we tried red chilli powder but as its raining it washes away)

Our drive is realtively clean a bit damp as its north facing and a few leaves but pretty clean

Thanks

Next door definitely has a problem, I think you should sort your self out 😂

Seriously there will be a big difference between the size of cat and dog poo. If it's fairly small, and really stinks then it's likely a cat. Also, no dog is going to crawl up under an SUV to take a dump. It could, however be foxes.
  • +1 for it being foxes - they will go just about anywhere!

Thanks but we had foxes pooing at the previous property as the garden was a massive 300 footer and massive drive and grass to the front and foxes poo stank for a mile and this does not.

It bigger poo than the biggest cat but enough for small dog.

I had my doubts when we got it under the big suv is a good  10 inches off the ground I guess and the poo was about 12 inches towards the middle. It does not smell and thankfully its solid easy to pick up unless someone drives over it or steps on it.

I'm very confused but if it a dog and I see them, I can envisage a very, very nasty response form their owner as this has been going on for months from what I'm advised by others in the close and no one is the wiser

There are three cats roaming the close and often sit on top or under cars, two are Persian (Russian bled eyed ccording to goolle, look like twins) cats and one of them is those bigger/tiger cats I think you call them

Thanks - I've correct the bit you highlighted, thanks

Thanks but we have dealt with fox poo many times at the old house and we do have foxes here but the often stay in the gardens that back onto ours as those are massive and their stuff stinks like hell. and this poo on the drive never does and next door agrees. Thanks

There is considerable cross-over between cat poo and dog poo in terms of size and a lot depends on diet.  With a bulky diet, even small cats can produce bulky poo.  Also cats vary in behaviour and some can be very relaxed about where they poop, so don't get swayed by folks saying "only where they can dig" etc.

From all you have said, I'd be betting on cat.

Is there a gadget that anyone on this forum or their family/etc has used and would recommend, please? Thanks again.

A small coal shovel and paint/wallpaper scraper - Scoop it up, and drop the poo in your general waste bin.

Sorry, it is possible  that you have not read the OP as I'm clearly seeking advice/recommendations how to avoid/stop the dog/cat etc. Thanks.
  • We currently have 4 cats and we have had up to 7 in the past. In my experience none of them ever poop on hard surfaces (mainly instead, in flower beds and pots) but foxes routinely poop on pathways, doorsteps etc. So my money would be on foxes too

Nothing I’ve tried has worked. A large water pistol and a large dog go someway towards keeping it out when I’m there but then it just comes and craps in the garden overnight when I’m not.

None of the gadgets I’ve tried have worked, cats scarers, that sort of thing. If you have a flower bed they use, you can put sticks in which helps; at the front which is shingle I sprinkle chilli powder which seems to help until the rain washes away. But generally speaking the suggestion that you didn’t like earlier on about a shovel is probably as good as it’s going to get.
