Monzo rejected new account?!

Hi everyone,
I’ve been looking into doing a couple of current account switches to get the rewards and previously had a Monzo account about 6 months ago which I closed.
I tried to reopen it today and they’ve said they can’t offer me an account at this time? Does anyone know if it’s a year until you can reapply?
The email said they can’t even give me their reason as it’s confidential 😳
Hoping this doesn’t go on my credit score too?

Monzo unofficially don't allow people to rejoin after CASS'ing away, understandably since theirs is one of the easiest and quickest eligible donors to open.
I've seen reports of this ban being sticky even years after. I've also seen suggestion that this can be worked around by using a different mobile and/or email, but I personally can't vouch for that.0 -
They’re funny about re-opening accounts. I had to email them and after a few back and forth emails, I finally got it open…maybe try that0

I haven’t switched via them at all yet, I just stupidly closed the account 6 months ago as I didn’t use it and wish i hadn’t now 🤦🏼♀️WillPS said:Monzo unofficially don't allow people to rejoin after CASS'ing away, understandably since theirs is one of the easiest and quickest eligible donors to open.

Tried opening a new one with a different email and mobile but it said no and so than emailed to open the old closed one I had and still no! I don’t know why when I haven’t switched them. Maybe they can be fussy!eskbanker said:
Are you specifically trying to reopen a closed account, or simply trying to open a new one?Lewis7498 said:previously had a Monzo account about 6 months ago which I closed.

No bank has to offer an account to anyone. It’s a commercial entity and has every right to choose who they do business with.Monzo, unlike most other banks, has chosen some very opaque criteria for allowing people to return and open new accounts. Some people manage, even after CASS’ing or just simply closing their accounts, others simply can’t.There’s no way to tell what the criteria are so if you’re not eligible it’s best to look elsewhere1
