I did some research and decided to open am RCI fixed rate account at 4.6%, I've followed all of the instructions that have been sent to me via e mail and post i sent £1000 from my Handelsbanken account to get the RCI account 'up and running' The money has left my Handelsbanken linked account, but nothing has arrived at RCI. Ive telephoned their helpline 3 times to be placed in a que 3 times then cut off after 20 minutes wait - no confidence in this 'bank'
I am a huge fan of RCI and have never encountered anything like you describe.
  • As OP mentions , i applied for a RCI 1 year fixed over 7 days ago, no contact whatsoever. Have tried calling multiple times and emailed too, 0 response ...... not confident i want to deposit a large sum now if cant actually contact them.

  • I tried to get a 5 year fix, same as above, no contact after I applied, so binned it for a 5 year with Vanquis took 10 mins just waiting for paper work.

I applied on Wednesday morning and got the paperwork this morning. I applied for Vanquis Tuesday evening but nothing yet.
I need to decide if I want 2 years at 4.85% or 3 years at 5%.

I sent a small initial deposit using the first reference, i.e. the application ref, as instructed, at around 7.30pm yesterday evening, had a text acknowledgement at 9.15 pm, and was showing in my account at the same time.

So if you've waited significantly longer, there may be something amiss.  I assume you've double-checked the bank details and ref you used. Would be worth confirming that Handelsbanken has definitely made the transfer as Santander has several times held back my transfers for security checks while still saying the transfer had been made.

You'll have noticed they reduced the rate yesterday, so queries on that that might be generating a lot more calls.

Presume from your reply that small test payments are ok?
    Thanks

I sent £1k, which, as I remember, is supposed to be the minimum opening balance.  Really, just to see how they handled payments.  I didn't want to find myself waiting a week to know whether a payment had arrived. Especially as payments were being sent from Santander, which has a habit of holding back payments without any notification.

RCI's communication still seems to be rubbish, but applying payments has been fairly prompt. Has anyone managed to speak to anyone or get a reply to an email or message yet?
