green Homes Grant 2022.

I am confused about elegibility for the new Green Homes Grant Scheme 2022/  I recently saw a newspaper article about grants available to improve insulation in homes. I completed a survey and a surveyor carried out an EPC survey. He said we are eligible for 100%.of the work required fto be carried out for free, I queried this with the company Wormwood and they said we will not have ro pay for any work that is recommended because of our age and our combined income is below £30000 pa.

I asked if savings are taken into account but they said no, savings don't count. I have read that people on certain benefits receive the work for free but we are not on any benefits only the ordinary state pension. The information on government sites about the scheme does not mention savings at all. I do not want to agree to the work and then be told I have to pay for it. The pay back from any money saved on heating would take years to recoup, probably not in my lifetime.

The other point is what happens if you move house later on and the new house needs insulating are you able to apply again or just the one time?

The government site is confusing for people in our situation. I have emailed the Ministry but have not received a reply to date.

I would be most grateful for any information on the scheme,

You are collecting a state pension - That is a qualifying benefit (for most of these schemes).
I was under the impression that the Warm Homes scheme had been wound up. Even if that is the case, the ECO4 scheme is still running along with a couple of schemes being run by local councils (and funded by central government) Contact your council and ask about Warm Homes grants.

If you get awarded a grant, you won't need to pay it back. Should you move, you can apply again if there are any schemes running in the future.

Treasure the moments that you have. Savour them for as long as you can for they will never come back again.

Make sure they are not planning on spraying insulation foam inside your roof - it can damage your roof and make your house difficult to sell in the future. Also, I can't find any details of a company called Wormwood involved with construction or insulation, which rings a few alarm bells!

Sorry my error the company are called Warmworks. With regard spray insulation I have read so many bad reports about it and would never agree to that. They mentioned floor insulation, exterior wall insulation and solar panels. I am not keen on floor insulation as we have a solid concrete floor, the process would be too disruptive.
