I got a comment on a comp I entered on fb tgat I saw posted on here saying I have won a Fortnum and Mason hamper which would be lovely but it says to register within 24 hours and provided a link but when I went to the link it required credit card details to, it said, pay £1 to sign up for something. I am very reluctant to do that and did put a comment on the post that I did not feel able to trust it. What does anyone else think.

Definitely dodgy! No legitimate competition would ask for money or 'registration' to claim a prize. It's a well known scam connected to Facebook competitions unfortunately.I’m a Senior Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Competition Time, Site Feedback and Marriage, Relationships and Families boards. If you need any help on these boards, do let me know. Please note that Ambassadors are not moderators. Thanks thanks It does seem that this FB page is the legitimate one for the company concerned as they have a link to it on their website so maybe it has been high jacked?0

If this is the competition you entered https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/6401109/e-04-12-win-a-fortnum-mason-christmas-hamper-worth-300-fb-ig leading to the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/HomesByCarlton/posts/pfbid0g7tJa5A6Cj5fSUxkgw32zAReB4XuGNudnQ6b55BnznHixiKo9HTq9jfRwgQ7F6yWl then you are definitely being scammed. As per the information on the post:
Prize draw closes at 9am on 05/12/2022. One winner will be chosen at random, notified on 06/12/2022 by this account (please be aware of copycat accounts) and their name will be announced on Facebook and Instagram.
