Tastier than fudge??? I HAVE to try some of that!! lol. We have an amazing fudge shop here where you can see them making fudge in the front of the shop on a big marble table. It's very cool and tastes delicious :D and more to the point they do free samples :D

Who mentioned TABLET? What about Stra'ven Toffee, if anyone remembers that. It was packed in squares in a little green box. And I MUST get a word in for Oddfellows (no longer available). My first ever job was when I was 14. I worked Saturdays and school holidays in a sweet shop that sold everything, including slab toffee, tablet and chocolate puff candy, which I still sometimes make. :D

This is ridiculous, I can't work for thinking about making sweets! :rotfl:

OK, a quick google and here's a link to a tablet recipe We used to make tablet, toffee and puff candy (basically toffee recipe with Bicarbonate of Soda beaten into it). Good luck.

This is DAY 10 of the no-spendathon and I am loath to have to break that trend. I'm stretching out everything with every excuse possible NOT to buy anything and use up what we have. Not sure how much longer the powdered milk is going to last, though. Ach, I'll hold out a bit longer. It isn't as if we have run out of anything. As soon as I'm down to the last pint of milk and last hm loaf, I'll venture into a shop. Knowing my luck, that'll be later today and they'll need to do without just so I had 10 consecutive NSDs to my name.:rotfl:
I reserve the right not to spend.

Right, I'm going to have to leave if all this talk of yummy stuff keeps going, I have enough trouble with all the lovely stuff on the GC; the WL thread will disown me soon :rotfl:

We're having real problems with our internet at mo  so I may be a bit hit and miss for a little (I won't really have left :D )

Well done on the NSDs Nyk, that's brill! :T I'm not sure what's going on here at the mo, need to get any receipts from OH and work things out this week. I'm full of cold so would rather be in bed, but am trying to go to work this afternoon.
Andromache, you have started something in this house... we're now thinking of going to South America for 3 months...

    Good afternoon Frugalites.

Oh dear. Have crashed and burned last night. I worked all day from 7.15am-9.15pm as lots of people off sick. Made big mistake of going into Co-op to look for bargains
Spent way too much money
Broke cardinal rule and went shopping AGAIN when tired, hungry and with debit card in bag.
I swear the little card has got legs and climbs into my bag when I'm not on guard

But I have kept receipts and will face the music soon.
Got lots of chocolate. And reduced cakes and biscuits. And garlic baguettes. Why? I can't even eat baguettes after my weightloss surgery.
DH says my shopping bags are very interesting to unpack when I have been shopping in this mood :o

On a good frugal note. I can combine shopping trips with work which means petrol costs me nothing. And I get any last minute bargains before the shops close. But I have too many bargains now so must leave money at home.
The courtesy car I am driving following my argument with the tree is a bit like a milk float :rotfl: But it tells me I am getting 48mpg. It also informed me that the temperature was -4 this morning which is a little chilly :D

When I take off my rent, council tax and water, I'm left with £3,772. Do I qualify for the challenge, or can someone lend me £228 ? :O

Janey - your post made me laugh. My card has little legs too.

Today is like wading thro treacle. Virtually no food in the house, but don't want to go shopping as we're expecting the hamper at some point, and also it's OH's bday this week and he usually gets lots of foody goodies from family. Plus we're heading over to aunties for Easter food. So we ought to be able to drag it out.

Paperwork that is affecting money is slowing getting sorted but seems to be costing a lot in the interim. Passport photos left, right and centre. A lot of the issues is because OH doesn't just get on with stuff straight away. He is beginning to realise that I am irritated with him at the moment. Think he is in the process of change. I will make sure he has a lovely birthday though. He's a good 'un really!

Tomorrow night I can relax and recharge. Provided I pull my finger out today which is not happening so far.

I ate one of our Easter 'crunchies' this morning because you lot kept going on about food! That reminds me, if there's anything left I must make an Easter basket with all my choccy bars that I saved from Xmas. Got the wooden skewers so it should look magnificent.
:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.
