Thank you all for your hugs.
Highly exciting evening - took OH blood doning (I couldn't donate of course). Shouldn't need to borrow your griddle pan just yet Janey as we are at least talking now. (Not about the £200 though).
Teacakes in our family have currents (sp?) and not chocolate.
Agree about cost of living comments - cheaper in city. In Birmingham when we lived there you could get 2 adults and up to 4 children a family bus ticket for total £4 to be used thro'out the city after 9am to midnight. Where I am now it's about £5 for a return for an adult to the nearest town. And buses every 10 minutes in Brum. The house in Brum was one third the cost of similar houses where I am now.
Talking of stoned people, I am rather out of touch with drugs these days. Not that I ever used them anyway, but at least I was aware. Earlier this week, I was watching TV with OH and a young bloke and woman were slumped on the sofa, smoking and drinking beer. One passed the other some drugs. 'What kind of drug is that?' I asked OH.
'Whitewing, that's fudge.'
'Oh, I've never heard of that. What's that like?'
'No whitewing, it's fudge!'l:T Never Too Old to learn :T0 -
Hi everyone
Hectic day at work today with lots of meetings. Not a lot to report on the frugal front but have managed a no spend day:D . Also made another loaf in breadmaker, and cooked tea for my oldies so we ate for free:D.
Oh i forgot, I have subscriptions to two magazines which were xmas gifts - Prima and Gardener's World, i have now done a deal with two of my oldies, one buys a daily national paper, the other buys daily local paper. They now read these and then pass on to me daily in exchange for my monthly copies of the magazines - so everyone wins:Dand our little bit of recycling is helping save a few trees.

I think it means white, milk and plain, but does anyone remember Pink Panther bars? Pink 'chocolate'!
Brilliant idea with the balloons, though, and how 'posh' would that look? Wonder if you could make a chocolate bird cage and fit a furry chick inside, like the ones you see in the easter cakes? :rotfl:
Mmmm pink panther bars, I remember them,- anyone remember caramac - think you still see it now and again:rolleyes:0 -

Not in the spirit of living on £4,000 - but what's new - we today had a visit from a window replacement company to replace some failed sealed double glazed units. I thought about 8 had failed - he reckoned 12 and he missed out one that I had included, so that makes 13 that need replacing at a cost of pretty close to £1,000.
We've lived in the house 11 years, and it was built 25 years ago, so I suppose it's not surprising that they have failed. We had 7 replaced not long after moving in, and the remaining ones have failed one by one over the intervening years.
It's one of those things that you can just ignore - they are just full of condensation and not very easy to see through - but it really should be sorted some time. If only it wasn't so much money!
By the way, DD is recovering well from her week of poorliness - the conjuncitivitis and ear infection seem to have pretty much gone, so just the constant runny nose to go now.0
