Loved the chat whislt I was tucked up in my bed...you all sounded like like a little club!:rotfl: Love the way everyone helps one another on here.:D
I've heard that you can grow strawberries in hanging baskets and will be trying that one for myself. Also, I am growing potatoes in old car tyres this year. As the shoots appear, you stack another tyre on top and add more soil/compost. It ensures that you get lots of lovely pots! I've also grown beans in pots that were approx. 10in in diam. and 18in high. You just have to stake them as the are growing and pick them to encourage new fruit!
I have to pop to Boots today for some hair dye. Ive found that their own brand has done just as good a job as the one I normally get and is £2 cheaper. I still have a gift card so will be placing it on that so that no cash passes my palm
Then I'm off for a brisk/stroll up the Clent hills which is not far from me. I remember there being blackberry/raspberry/blueberry bushes on common ground and in the hedgerows there, so I will make a mental note of it, to return when they are ripe!;) Free food!
I intended to decorate my house as I have so much time off work. So far I've done a big fat 0. I must knuckle down, but today is so beautiful that I want to go for a walk and take in the hills and fresh air!:A

Is it just me or was anyone else amazed to see KFC could come anywhere close to having been around for 25 years!
Oh dear, now I'll have to admit to my advanced age, as I first went into a 'Kentucky Fried Chicken' (no abreviations back then!!!) in 1977:eek::eek::eek: Though that was in London, don't think there was one in my home town.
Also went to Mac Donalds the same year, that was in Cologne and I thought it was just a German thing!!!
Oh, I've just noticed one of my stars has disappeared, I've been demoted back to MS convert, is this what happens if you don't post for a few days?

I had my 10th birthday party at kfc (and i'm 42 this year:eek: ) mind you those days it was a special treat to get junk food:rolleyes:
I remember macdonalds opening in my town when I was in high school around 1980, now we have 3 kfc and 3 macdonalds,bk, pizza hut, as well as numerous chinese, kebab shops, pizza shops, chip shops etc:eek:0 -
Good morning Fellow Frugallers :j
The sun is shining and reminding me I need to clean my windows (the annual clean) and nicely highlighting the cats' paw prints on my worktops:eek:
To those of you who are thinking of leaving, please don't go. You are all great and have contributed such a lot to this thread already :j I love logging on every morning to see what little triumphs and disasters we have met and coped with.
Keren I think you are just having a little "between Christmas and Easter" panic :grouphug:
mumzy I love the way you confess everything, good and bad
Funbrum would you believe I have never set foot in a KFC in my life? Not through lack of trying. Before I had Weight Loss Surgery last year, it was on my list of places to have a Last Supper but I couldn't physically eat any more:rolleyes: and now, I would resent paying for a meal I couldn't eat. Maybe I can get a friend to go with me and steal a bit of theirsVery frugal.
wendy am well impressed with your frugalling efforts on the country food front. DH and I will be gathering primrose petals (ssshhhh, I know its not allowed but we only take a couple of petals from each plant) to make primrose wine which is exquisite). Last year, he made about 4 gallons of wine including sloe and rowan, which was unfortunately, vapourised in the fire.0 -
With Easter approaching, has anybody got any ideas for Frugal Easter Eggs?
My sister made eggs one year but it ended up very expensive
I only buy for my sons and DIL's (sons are now in their 30s but hey, still my babies)
One of my DILs doesn't eat chocolate so I thought about making her a fruit basket.
I have been saving my onion skins to dye some eggs which I have been doing since forever.
DH is becoming a grouchy person on crutches now. He wants to go outside and split logs as we have run out but I won't let him in case he falls over.
I will have to give in and put the heating on unless I use the cashback I got from Quidco and the £50 from changing my car Insurance Company to buy some "heat logs" to use until DH is fit again.
Problem is, his car is full of rubbish (well, tools) which I would need to take out before I can go for logs and I've got nowhere to put them unless I squeeze them into my kitchen which now looks like a B&Q warehouse
I am becoming a fan of Stardrops after it cleaned my manky oven door. I had to unscrew the door to get at the yucky bits and now I have a sparkling clean door which I can't get back onHaven't confessed to DH yet as I am trying to be independent
I must start planning for next Christmas again. I started off really well in January but have fallen by the wayside. I have a lot of fabric which is partially made into quilts so that should be top of my list as it will be finance free.
I am going to update this month's spends at the end of the month when I have had a big glass of Baileys (Christmas present, untouched)

Morning All,
It is very good to read your posts. It is helping me a lot with keeping focussed on the yearly objective.
I'm a little down in the dumps myself today:
Tax credits claim: on hold (delay they can't help but just annoying)
Loft insulation: on hold (until tax credits sorted as will get it free then)
OH's passport: on hold (he needs to sort it; fed up of nagging him)
Parttime job: new salary on hold, awaiting letter. March salary down but catchup in April. Grr!
Parttime job: salary underpayment, confirmed but not yet paid.
MIL's job: on hold, pending CRB check
Phantom pregnancy: on hold, awaiting scan appointment + blood test results
Lucky dip baby: awaiting results of latest 'actions'
Conversation in house: on hold, OH wants an unscheduled £200 spend to help his family short-term, I won't let him, because I think we need to educate them to think long term (which is partly why MIL is here). I do sympathise but this situation crops up every two months or so, and we agreed last time that OH would get a part time job and use earnings from that. We budget jointly & I am particularly cross because we've just started trying to conceive and I feel that it is a breach of trust. MIL and OH seem to have known about this for weeks and I was told yesterday and money is needed today. So I'm being cruel to be kind. (Not an angry silence, just a sad silence). Why am I always the bad guy? OH is caring and kind and loves me very, very much. I love him too, but I am so torn because I need security for DS.
Competition prize: (£100 hamper), on hold, as they want to send out all prizewinnings at the same time and need to get hold of other winners.
OH's bday: (next week): presents on hold as he may want to have money instead to give to his family. DS and I love giving presents and it was such a tradition for us when we were on our own to have special birthdays.
OH + MIL temping jobs: on hold, awaiting info on some paperwork that needs to be completed.
Okay, moan over. And I'm proud that I don't feel the need to jump OFF the frugal bandwagon while it all seems hopeless. All these issues should begin to resolve themselves within a month. Feeling better already. Got a work questionnaire to fill in and some letters to write, so I'd better be getting on. See you guys later.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0 -
Morning all, And thankyou to whoever said they loved how i say things good or bad...usually don't realise and i just write aload of rubbish (it seems rubbish to me)
Today iam all cleaned up and bout to have a bath then get on with some baking if these kids are good LOL. Might wait till yougest is asleep tho she hates baking!
I got my comfort sample yesterday and also got £9 back in huggies vouchers as i complained but when they said they would replace my pack of nappies that were faulty, i didnt mention they only cost me £1.75 in the boots clearence LOLSealed Pot dec 08 - dec 09 so far £27.67, Live off £4k Spent £330.20 GC £1,200 for 2009 Spent £50.78 PaD so far £650.07Debts: L/woods £154.00 C/One PAID O/D £649.90 Next £299.95 O/D PAID Gas £72.60 Electric £155.73 Mum £640.00 Orange £490.320
