    hi sophiesmum
I'm also doing my degree with the OU since separating from OH. As a poor single parent it's hardly cost me anything (except a lot of time, blood, sweat and tears :rotfl:
What are you studying? I'm doing French and Spanish, started with both together but now on level 3 so only doing Spanish at the moment.
I'dlove to go to Macchu pichu, it's been my dream for years and I'm now hoping that mse will help me achieve it one day. I'd also need to get a lot fitter and slimmer first, we must be twins;)

    Hi Lingojngo:D
Degree started out Health and Social care but after 3 years I started getting a bit bored with it a bit so changed to Open Hons degree, did finance course last year along with another social science course, this year doing DD308 Making social worlds and A210 Approaching literature - that one is for fun - and does not seem a bit like work:D ,will need one more level 3 after these, but it is quite addictive and may even do more "fun" courses after completing hons degree:rolleyes: .
Machu picchu - I will get there some time but OH does not find it as fascinating as me and trekking is not his idea of fun so up to now have no one to go with:confused: .

Marru, I'm sorry to hear about your job situation and don't mean to sound in any way flippant about it, but whilst finishing with one company and starting with another, you should grant yourself some of your own wishes. Indulge yourself as best you can, attempt a lie-in as best you can, and forget the fight with LO over clothes - have a pyjama day instead. :)

Marru, sorry to hear about your job dying on you. Expected or not, it's still horrible. Best of luck.

    I wish.....

far too many things to clutter up this board :D

    Best of luck everyone

    Good morning everyone:D
Another days hols today for me, going to do some studying then will make some bread rolls and pizza dough in breadmaker/oven. Tried out my new panasonic yesterday and it is brilliant:j this is my third breadmaker but it is far superior, can't wait to try out some of the recipes:D
Had to give DD busfare today for school as it is too windy for her to go safely on her scooter, so have spent £4 on that:mad: (which is why we got her the scooter) that is my first spend of the week, may as well make it a spend day now though and get the veggies and some other bits I need today instead of at the weekend, I am trying to have no more than two spend days a week;)

Doing some freecycling/recycling of "stuff" today and have donated another two shelves of books to court library:eek: . My once huge collection has now been decimated and I have only kept absolute favourites and reference/cook books that I use regularly, the rest I don't really miss.

Have a frugaltastic day everyone, will catch up later.:D

Marru, I am so sorry to hear about your job, I think Nyk's idea is a wonderful one though! I had to give my job up through illness and once I, eventually, stopped being so upset/angry about it, I learned to enjoy some of the things that had always been on my wishlist with no time to do. Your situation is far more temporary than mine (a good thing :D) so these times are even more precious. Go on, feel sorry for yourself for a little and then enjoy those things the time allows you x

DdraigGoch, wishes don't clutter up this board, they're part of why we're here so please do post them! I have loads too but to keep it simple -
    Lovely OH (tick)
the beginnings of my menagerie (tick)
a home I can call my 'own' (tick)

I wish for - my health, so I can explore the outdoors I love
    travel adventures
a little family in the future
the smallholding, mortgage-free, with sustainable energy and a Noah's Ark of animals
go back to work part-time and 'make a difference'
study, maybe International Human Rights Law...

I could go on, but I'll stop there :rotfl:Idealistic maybe but possible? Entirely!

Mumzy, those dreams will come, and when they do it'll be amazing!
Sophiesmum, and anyone else, you don't need someone else to go travelling with, but if you want one I'm always game ;)

Thank you all for your wishes. I have now had my "feeling sorry myself day" and feeling more positive today. Part of me is relieved and part of me is scared of where the rent money is going to come from. It is not easy to find a job that would work around LO's child care arrangements.

I did take LO once into the nursery in her pyjamas but now she is going to pre school in the mornings and don't really want to do it. Might try it once thou. But as it happens no fight this morning. Lie in - hmm - I might need to wait untill LO is in her teens as she gets me up every morning at seven the latest. It is going to be NSD for me today as I am not going to take my purse with me when going out today.

    Have a great day everybody,

    Marru

Well done, Marru and good luck with the lie-in!

Bails, thanks for the reminder :)

    ok, here goes:

Lovely and kind new DH who loves my children as his own - tick
Move into workshop conversion - tick

Get it converted - not yet!

Sort out money - working on that tick :hello:
Become independent of the grid - water, power and heat - working on it but not getting too far

Become a less idle person - erm... I'm on here AGAIN.... nope, no progress so far! :D

That the kind of thing you meant, Bails?

    thanks

Hi Marru, I was sitting here feeling all sorry for myself as I'm off work with a really sore throat and I've nearly lost my voice:cry: , then I read about you and didn't feel so bad.
((((((big hugs))))))) I echo what everyone has said, hang on in there, enjoy some free time, and fingers crossed you get something else sorted before too long.

Then my lovely Mum :smileyhea rang to say I should book a restaurant for Saturday and she'll treat us (she's coming up here for a long weekend as it's my birthday on Saturday_party_) Will have to wait till DD gets home though, as they'll never understand my grunts on the phone:rotfl:

Also, I won a quiz on the porky site, :T so I've ordered 2 vouchers which will do 2 birthdays in May, and I'm very close to getting a third.

So even though I feel grotty, life has popped up with some unexpected good things!

I'm doing my own challenge of staying within my self imposed weekly budget but this week hasn't been a good frugal one. I've had to book my car in for a service, received my renewal notice for buildings and contents insurance and now my microwave has decided it's had enough of me. 2 family birthdays next week too. Everyone has week/months like this, so keep on track and coping will be easier.
