A very early Good Morning to fellow frugallers. DH and I have an early start as we are off to an important hospital appointment which is a 4 hr drive away.
I am getting ready for the forecast storm force winds and will make sure the candles are strategically deployed for when we get home tonight. As long as there are no trees down across the road we should be fine. Our old house is pretty solid....hope I'm not provoking Mother Nature
And now...I have gathered all my courage and worked out my final figures for February. TBH, its not as bad as I feared and I have updated my sig without too much angst.
I will do better in March. Have already bought Mother's Day present and Mum's birthday present so won't have to count that in MarchPlus, some of my DDs have been reduced or cancelled.
Starting my new job, I have had to change my car insurance to include business use. It was due for renewal anyway March 5. We have used the same local brokers for 10 yrs but they have now tied themselves to one of the major insurance companies which I am not happy about.
So, did a search with Quidco and found a quote which is £20 cheaper but I will get £27 cashback plus an extra £50 from the Insurance firm so have saved myself nearly £100 :T
With my savings on our budget this year, I have managed to increase the payment to our Regular Saver from £200 to £500 :beer:0 -
DdraigGoch Right, no Araldite then. DH has actually fixed the top but I was a bit iffy about using it anyway as I would prefer not to have to budget for a funeral.
It did cross my mind about using a plate but wasn't sure if it would keep the same seal.0 -

Quick question folks! I have closed and cancelled all my unused credit facilities and asked for them to be marked as settled on the credit reference agency files. I have a Barclaycard with a zero balance and no other card. Should I close and cancel this also or should I hang onto it 'just in case"? If I do cancel it will mean that my only active finance agreement is my mortgage and utilities (as they are reported to cra's now I believe.) Any opinions gratefully received.THE LONG AND THE SLOW ROAD SEEM TO APPLY TO DEBTS AND DIETS... THE TWO THINGS I WANT TO SEE THE BACK OF...:D0

Went out for a meal last night with 4 friends. Wasn't keen on going for a few reasons. Sat working out how much the courses would have cost to make which made me grit my teeth a bit.
The killer came when the bill arrived and someone announced we should all pay for one person who was home in the UK for a few days. I was NOT happy to have that suddenly 'announced' as it meant paying out £35 !!!!!!!!!!"Stay Wonky":D

Janey,
Hope all goes well today.
keren,
Difficult one this. It's awful being put on the spot like this. I've been in these kind of situations before (pre-MSE, I must say, when I would have just gone along with it). Can't advise you - as I get older, it's rarer and rarer that I do social things I don't want to. I would have thought that I'd get agorophobic but actually, I'm much more able to handle things (like funerals) that would have been a social nightmare before. I've always been able to chat about specific things, just not very good at 'small talk'.
PS why is Jacks dumped? (your signature, lol):heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0
