DH has minced the ingredients for the home made faggots I wanted to try...bless him
The recipe said it makes 12 but I have made 24  Obviously, I think smaller
So, they are chilling in the fridge before cooking later today then freezing.
Amazingly cheap.
Got 3 Lamb's hearts + Pig's Liver + Belly Pork for £3.12. The other ingredients (onions, spices and herbs) will probably be another 50p. Recipe recommends 3 faggots + gravy per serving but I will be lucky to manage 1 as they are quite big.
Ingredients looked disgusting before they were all minced but just look like mince now and smell lovely.
ThanksMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

mama67 got the recipe off BBC Food website. Sorry, can't do links! I would imagine you will find the recipe by using the search facility.0

The supermarket waste demonstrated was ridiculous. If it HAS to be binned, for reasons of politics and economics, then it should not be simply 'binned'. The supermarkets responsible should be made dispose of it properly, possibly via charitable outlets. If it's notpast its 'use by' then why not use it somewhere like the prisons? That would save the taxpayers a small fortune. And all those split outer packets (like the Maltesers) could be donated. I know it states on the inner packs that they cannot be sold individually, but if I went in a supermarket and there was a shelf of split packs on offer in exchange for donations...
Has anyone actually contacted any shops about this? I know that I used to ask my local greengrocer to keep me all the excess fruit & veg when I kept my extended pet collection. One person I knew hardly ever bought feed for his livestock (he was a smallholder), he simply went around the shops in his van at closing time or first thing in the morning collecting their surplus fruit, veg, bread, rolls and milk. But perhaps this has been banned since back then?

PPS: Train travels - have you all got your Bite cards? At least if you slip up in the frugal stakes then you'll get 10% off the cuppa and food if you buy at the station.
PPPS: Cobblers - I have had boots and shoes reheeled often in the past, local cobbler was about £4 for small heels. Will let you know next week when I hand in my 'good' bootsMy self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).

Now there's a product that I'm sure some of us with the opposite problem would love to try! Quick! Write it down, trademark it, mix the potion and let's start the marketing campaign! :rotfl: :rotfl: (Sorry, couldn't resist it!)

Think I will stick to DD's theory of vests are better, cause they keep more of your body warm.
They obviously think us little ladies need a bit of help.
Have you tried the Tammy section in BHS, I'm not impressed with the quality but there was more choice there than I had found for a long time.

Hmmm first knickers, now bras...is tommorrow national 'discuss your stockings' day?
I was in a drama workshop this morning, had to do some improvisation, and guess what topic jumped into my head cos I was thinking on the spot???????
Yep, you guessed it, I actually acted out 'begging for a donation for the knickerless nun charity'.... I wish I were making this up to give you lot a laugh....
...do you think anyone might have thought I was strange??This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
First, my round of applause for Jumble-Bee's improvisation :T :T :T Bet the others loved it and have gone home scratching their heads wondering if it's a musical or a Classic novel! Bet someone Googles it tonight!:rotfl:
OK, here's my current dilemma - my next birthday pressie alert! I need to make something for a 9-year-old who loves "High School The Musical", but I haven't seen it and can only imagine it's a bit like 'Fame' mixed with 'Grease' (showing my age). She has all the usual things like the official DVD, music, stickers etc and I can't use anything that's copyrighted - anyone got any ideas what I could make? Or what the film is about?
This is for the sister to the one I made the 'save for your own pony' kit (she absolutely loved it!). What would a High School Musical fan save for, I wonder?
