Just as well I checked my signature - I had an arithmetical error! :o I think I may have typing dyslexia as well as financial OCD :D Thank goodness for www.spendingdiary.com!

Today's expenditure, on second inspection of bank account, reflects a payment of £43.78 to credit card. Can't access anything else at the moment because of site maintenance. Hmph! signature now updated in line with spending diary.

  • Oh, I want that greenhouse! (Even though there's nowhere to put it.)
Rang round for Malarone (anti-malarial tablets) today. B**ts the Chemist was the most expensive at £78, a pharmacy attached to a local surgery was the cheapest at £58. A year ago I wouldn't even have thought to compare prices. This thread is really changing my life. :T

On the FFC side of things, I never did the 5 floors of stairs 3 times, as this morning we walked to the local church in town to view a 'college' exhibition there, then to the other side of town to view a sculpture exhibition at museum, from there we went to the point (an art gallery place) from there we headed to the west of town to view a new gallery which has opened, and then walked all the way back from there to college. Did do 2 flights of stairs 4 times today though as had to go down to libruary to print off the two handed alphabet. On returning home, did a 2 mile circle walk when i went to collect some steak knifes that was offered on free cycle.

    PANCAKE day

Well decided to make a proper meal of them, so Daughter has had two garlic mushroom+cheese with grated carrots, savoury pancakes, son has had cheese, grated carrots and spinach, savoury pancakes and I have had cheese onion and grated carrots, savoury pancakes. After NCIS we are going to have the sweet pancakes, two each.

I spent too much today but it was in a good cause. I have a very unhappy friend so I treated her to lunch which cost £17.50...but I am rich compared to my friend so I paid...I will catch up later in the month, but I only have £124 left for the month so it may be difficult

    NSD today :j

Made some scones with cheese left in fridge. Didn't look too closely at "use by" date as what the eye doesn't see...

Having read that slow cookers make wonderful rice pudding, decided to have a go. Found my ancient charity shop Slow Cooker Recipe Book, put all ingredients in (including some left over cream) and waited, drooling.

Checked it 5 hours later :o and realised I hadn't plugged the flex in
So, it went back on at 5pm.

Funbrum good for you. My new job is with the Council and I know the post I am taking is not paid at the level it should be in comparison with jobs of similar responsibility.

Cheers Janey51...welcome on board and hope you enjoy your new job. The pay and grading are an insult, but if you concentrate on the reasons you are doing the job, then, priceless!;)

Well done! I've just spent quite a while researching the different malaria tablets... so confusing! I'll be needing them for over 2 months (it's the travelling I'm saving for in my sig!) which complicates matters, as do a couple of other health issues I have. Malarone is far and away the most expensive so I'm hoping to use doxycycline... I naively thought they would be covered by the NHS, sigh. It's just another incentive to make sure I stay within my budget for this challenge, I guess! Where are you going to, then, redglass?

  • Janey51 - so, I'm not on my own then re the Slow Cooker socket fiasco! :rotfl:

I too love the idea of the greenhouse - might see if anyone wants to have a go up here. My son can provide the bottles, probably one greenhouse a month  ah well, he'll get the MSE idea eventually  Re the greenhouse though, I wish I knew how it all stuck together - can't see any wires or anything. It's very windy 1000' up, north facing in Wales, so it'd have to be fairly sturdy. I've often wondered if I put a row of those dark plastic bottles [brown or black ones] filled with water in a screen, trundled it in front of the southfacing windows during the day then, at night, drew the curtains behind them ... would it act as a radiator? Logically it would. Might be an idea for someone to have a go with - any green Barry Bucknells out there? I've got loads and loads of green ideas but my hands can't really cope with any weight so I'm a bit stuck at DIY nowadays - no hammering, no drilling, etc HUMPH!:mad: Ah well, it's not life threatening, just irritating.

I'm in the fortunate position of not having any debt to clear any more, we just need to stay that way - hence the need to stay on here. Guess what? OH is really taking this to heart these days:j It's so nice when they come around, isn't it?

all the best to the Frugalites
