Bank Switch, No Debit Card

I found out I still had an RBS account with £10 in it. Thought I'd switched out of it. Anyways it's good news, an account to use for a switch, so I thought but you need a debit card to input on the switch application, I destroyed it thinking now no account.
Anyone got around this, maybe a phone call, seems a faff to apply for a new card from RBS?

You can view the card details from within the RBS app. Tap the account, then 'Manage my card' then 'See card details'.1

Good idea I've just tried that, no card details showing it says👎 If I apply for a replacement card it asks for the last four digits of the old card, no can do.🤔WillPS said:You can view the card details from within the RBS app. Tap the account, then 'Manage my card' then 'See card details'.0 -
If you have no card (as your app suggests) simply tell the bank you're switching to that there is no debit card associated with the account. Most CASS request forms have provision for this and if they don't you can submit a request over the phone instead.0

In my Android RBS app there is no See card details option (I noticed the other day when want to make a card payment, have got so used to easy access to card details with other banks).WillPS said:You can view the card details from within the RBS app. Tap the account, then 'Manage my card' then 'See card details'.
Card payment controls and PIN servers etc are listed.
It does show the last 4 digits, but IIRC any switches that ask for card details ask for 5 not 4.
Not that this helps @brewer21 if there is no card listed.
Another option is to request a new debit card via chat.
I have done this a few times when I needed a card, albeit not via RBS, and normally arrives in a few days.0 -
I believe you have to be enrolled in RBS' proprietary facial checks to see more than the last 4. I can certainly see the full card number, CV2 and even the PIN number once I've blinked at the camera.k_man said:

Biometric approval/facial is already enabled already (needed it for adding payee).
Logged out and back in, and now See card details is showing!
(The facial/ blinking check is a bit janky though, only works 50% of the time, so would prefer the option to use fingerprint only/instead, as for login)

Yes I've been asked to do the biometrics register to simply change my email address. Not got that far yet as it seemed pointless but then it got me thinking about switching this account.WillPS said:

Would registering for biometrics check allow me to see card details, as above posts I currently can't see anything showing?
Giving them a call I'm guessing would present all sorts of questions naturally, they aren't going just send a card without interrogation. I hate ringing banks for this sort of stuff.
Edit...
Just tried registering for biometrics, it's telling me on the app I can't register just yet as I'm new to the app. I only downloaded it and used it in the last week.0 -
Back to the original question.....I have certainly switched bank accounts which did not have a debit card. That wasn't a problem. (I mean I had never had a debit card, not mislaid it/ lost it)Being polite and pleasant doesn't cost anything!

The whole point of those proprietary checks is they are a separate factor to the one used to gain access to the account. It also allows the bank to record an image of the face of whoever gained (or attempted to gain) access, as opposed to simply a successful/failed attempt in the case of fingerprint/face ID.k_man said:(The facial/ blinking check is a bit janky though, only works 50% of the time, so would prefer the option to use fingerprint only/instead, as for login)0 -
Some banks have stopped sending replacement cards on expiring when previous ones were never used. I have no card for one of my Barclays account and no card for my Club Lloyds account. I have no experience with RBS/NatWest about this but if they also do not issue replacement cards for unused expired one, then it may well be that there is no DC associated to that account now. However, both Lloyds and Barclays allows you to call in to request a brand new card for the account (or pop in branch with a form of ID.0
