Trying to get neutral feedback removed.

Options
I recently had a buyer leave me neutral feedback, I only have 40 positive feedback so far, the buyer never left a comment just a full stop, I asked them what the issue was and would they consider revising their feedback and received no response, I followed this up with a phone call to eBay and asked them to consider removing it as I felt it came under the category of inappropriate content as it did not help myself or potential buyers, the call handler (USA) said she didn't feel it was breaking their rules and said no.

Is there anything else I can do to try and get this removed or is that it?

Neutral is just that, neither positive or negative and doesn't affect your feedback score.  I got a neutral for the fact the buyer lived half way up a mountain and the (cheap) courier they chose only went there when they had enough parcels to make it worth it - all my fault of course.
  • You can send a "feedback revision request" to the buyer. They don't have to respond. Do a search in the help section on ebay.
  • eBay probably won't remove this kind of feedback unless you get lucky.

The buyer has expressed an opinion it's just a shame they haven't taken the time to explain why they felt the transaction was "neutral", frustrating as it is I don't think many buyers look at feedback these days and even those who do probably wouldn't be put off by this kind of feedback.

I wouldn't get too upset. Feedback such as that is, in my mind, a bigger red flag about the buyer.
It makes them look petty and one of these irrational people who are out to find fault.
If you had done something unsatisfactory then they would have put that down.
I got neutral feedback because a buyer ordered me to post a collection only item (they said they'd send the money once they got it). I cancelled the sale and responded to the feedback that they wanted me to post a collection only item.

    OP, I hear you.
At the very least for a neutral, they should have given a reason and you could have then countered and or address it. Some people are just unreasonable and thoughtless.

I'm a sensitive soul and have been on ebay 20 year 100% feedback on hundreds of items I bought and about 20 items I sold as I always sell good stuff in mint condition and at a low price and buyer collects as it is stuff like a telly, laptop, sofa etc pictures that had pride of place in our home but time for a change.

Give it one last shot via phone call and request to speak with a manager and tell them a reason for the neutral feedback with give you the opportunity to improve/address the buyers concerns and be a better seller on their/ebay platform, ie sweeten them Possibly before that checke the buyers feedback left for others as some people are never pleased and if that is the case, just leave it as it would mean wasting more of your time

As a buyer, I would completely ignore a neutral/negative with just a full stop.  If they can't be bothered to even type a comment to express why there was a problem, I can't take their feedback seriously.

(Unfortunately a negative does affect a seller's rating, but a neutral just rankles.)

Agree.  When i am buying something i do tend to click on any neutral or negatives to see if this could affect me or my purchase, but if i just saw a full stop i would give it as much thought as the buyer did (ie, none)
Where the !!!! has the Shrug gone! just doesn't cut it...:think::huh: and these don't come close
  • A negative or neutral often says more about the buyer than the seller
