Rhodes in May

Options
Hi

I am thinking of booking a holiday to Rhodes with my husband for early may. I have seen a hotel I like the oceana hotel and for all inclusive for £1200 which I think is decent price for a week.

I have noticed the hotel are away from the culture and historical areas at the top of the country.

I am wanting to know is it easy to get there without having to book a day trip with tui..also thinking of going with tui for the first time as usually go with Jet2 just because the flight times are better.

Also is there much open on may as we went to Bulgaria this may but we were the first flight of the season to land there and wasn't much open.

We like historical places and the all inclusive will be worth it just for the drinks alone.

Thank you

Is this the Oceanis in Ixia? If so it's not far to Rhodes town and there are regular buses.

I believe the Oceania Hotel is around the Ixia area.

There will be buses that run along that area and into Rhodes Town (even in May).  Rhodes Town is a very interesting place for historical sites, places of interest and museums. Rhodes Town is open and busy year round.

You may first have to go to Rhodes Town and change bus if you wish to travel down the coast south to Lindos.

I'd appreciate the person who messaged me privately to try and sell me a holiday not to do so..it's very fishy

Please report this to the forum team. Travel agents are allowed to beat a quote if asked, however must provide ATOL and (if relevant) ABTA numbers to be allowed to do this.

  • We went to Rhodes in Oct 2021 and the weather was amazing and most places were open. The Island does seem to be trying to be open beyond the pure summer season so altough everything won't be open, lots will be. Rhodes town is a must with so much to see within the walls. I would imagine that most of the bars and restaurants within the walls would be open as I am sure that Cruise ships still arrive most of the year.
If you can, hire a car. Even though it's a fairly small island, there is so much to explore and you could do your own trip to Lindos and the Castles on the western side.
    Love the place.
