Energy relief scheme for small businesses
Hello.
I was just wondering if MSE has any feedback from any business customers yet about the energy relief scheme? I run my own small independent business in Scotland and I'm with scottish power for my business electricity and they have as of yet not passed on the £400 savings from the government towards to cost of my electricity bill for the business.
I wondered if there was a time limit on this? Or who monitors if energy suppliers don't pass on those savings to their customers?

THe £400 is only for domestic consumers.
You should have had a letter from SP confirming you qualify for the Business Scheme from Oct to March 2023.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill1 -
We are a small business with British gas Electric who are dragging their feet applying the EBRS. Apparently they have a 'team' that is applying the EBRS discount in batches. Because we pay by DD they have just taken a huge sum which is at least £2.5k above what it should be if the discount had been applied. They promise to credit us and backdate the discount but cannot confirm a date when they will action this. It is a complete shambolic mess and daylight robbery. I'm sure some small businesses must be going out of business when these huge energy companies are taking random amounts by DD.-1
