dvd region 2

My sister wants a dvd for christmas and it says - Region 2 - Will only play on European Region 2 or multi-region DVD player. Does this mean it will play on a dvd player on a pc as she doesn't have a dvd player?

Thanks

  • DVD playing software on PCs also has regions... most people will have it set to UK/europe (2).. it should be fine

Yes, it should work fine on your PC as long as your PC has a
    DVD drive.

Richer Sounds is good for selling region-free DVD players (and recorders) clearly labelled as such. Whoever could have thought up a system that makes it difficult to send DVD gifts to friends & rels abroad (or similarly, receive them).
  • A word of caution: even PC/laptop DVD drives are equipped with "region change counters" in the firmware these days. At the school I work at, we've just had to replace a DVD drive, where a teacher had played a Region 1 DVD too many times.
