Over payment Insurance policy excess

Options
Hi, received a cheque in the post the other day for £27 from car insurance I had back in 2020!

It was in regards to a windscreen claim, and apparently its been identified an over payment of my policy excess has been made in error by them.

The letter apologies and explains the amount of the cheque is plus 8% interest.

Im just wondering is this some kind of a fob off? Would there be more of a claim i.e mislead / overcharged along there lines of the PPI claims, plus it being a few years ago.

Does anyone know better on this ? before I cash the cheque and at the matter is deal with.

Thanks so much

Dig out your records.... what did the policy say the excess was, how much excess did you pay?

You paid a windscreen excess, they have refunded it as they charged by mistake along with the 8% simple interest that they are supposed to.

This is NOTHING like PPI, it is a simple admin error which they have refunded. We are not out of 2022 yet, it's not "a few years ago" it's 2. You were not misled, you were not overcharged.

If it is for £27 exactly, it sounds like a £25 excess with a year interest at 8% which is £2. You are £2 better off plus a refund of a payment, cash the cheque and move on.
