Patchy walls:(

Hi!
So yesterday we st
arted painting on these 2 walls- it has had 4 coats and a whole pot of paint and it is still patchy in the same areas!
The wall was wallpapered which we removed with steamers and cleaned paste off/ sanded and prepped the walls. We did the watered down base coat before painting.
After relentlessly googling we think it might be something to do with the plaster/ maybe there is some paste still there (although I did a very thorough job in removal!)
Should we get another pot and paint over again and hope it covers it? Or should we start all over again with sanding and cleaning the walls, prepping and repainting and hope that covers it? Or should we just give up hope and wallpaper?
We have new carpet coming on Friday so quickest solution will be best but if not lots of late nights this week it seems
Thanks in advance for help!!

Hi,maybe a rub down then lining paper and then emulsion.1

Maybe some stain blocking paint first and then your paint?

Is there a different texture to the patches? I'd have thought that, if this was caused by paste, the affected parts would have more texture to them.
The dark parts aren't just still damp? Still need to dry?1 -
It looks to me like either the paint isn't drying in those areas or the paint is flashing due to the surface being different in those areas. It could be that the wall was over polished when it was skimmed.
If the wall has been sanded, I'd maybe try a good stain blocking primer on one wall before repainting to see if it fixes the problem.1
