Does anyone know where I can get this wallpaper? I need a replace a torn section so it needs to match the rest of the room (it will be painted over so the colour doesn't matter if different).  I've looked in Wilko and B&M but couldn't find it... No idea what it's called so don't know what to google either. Thanks!

    Hi,
would think if you find something similar and then paint/emulsion it battleship grey, as in picture, it will never be noticed.

Way back, just as summer was starting, I decided time to redecorate the landing. Took the woodchip of the ceiling and very quickly found out why the stuff had been used in the first place. Ended up stripping not only the wallpaper off, but the plaster too. External wall in the stairwell is now insulated, extra insulation stuffed in to the ceiling, and new plasterboard put up all round. Still haven't finished decorating though (back is playing up).

The joy of old houses, this was under 4 other layers of wallpaper then we found a mix of lath and plaster, plasterboard and sand & cement.

Maybe, just once, someone will call me 'Sir' without adding, 'You're making a scene.'

I’m really impressed with the quality must have been expensive in the day.

It's not so simple, I do not own the house, my landlord does. The wallpaper got water damaged as a result of a leaking roof/gutter issue.
Landlord not interested in redecorating/replacing damaged wallpaper (it's got an about 4ft long rip that's very obvious as part of the wallpaper came away from the wall and ripped as it was 'scrolling' down a wall).
The leak got eventually fixed, but not the interior damage. Landlord says it's not his job and I don't want be looking at ripped wallpaper forever (it's been like that for over a year now). Also, I'm worried that when I move out and the wallpaper is still damaged, I'll get charged for it. So I'm just trying to find a piece of wallpaper to match and repair it myself.

That's magnolia. My landlord doesn't know any other colour. Every single room in the house is painted the same colour, over the same old fashioned wallpaper (bathroom included). It's an eye sore. When/if I ever manage to buy my own house, there will be no wallpaper or magnolia in sight.

I do apologise if I came across as insensitive it wasn’t my intention, but it’s nearly impossible to match that paper, what about removing all the paper and painting the walls?

  • Is the wallpaper there but ripped and hanging or been removed? If the former, stick it back down and repaint the wall.

Like FreeBear's post, the most likely thing to happen is that the plaster comes off as well as the wallpaper.  That stuff was put there for a reason.

OP it is your landlord's responsibility.  If you are going to redecorate, please take photos of the situation before.  You don't want a cheeky claim for redecoration made against you just because fixed their problem for them.

Was working on an old pub near Guilford years ago where some hand painted wallpaper was uncovered. The architect pointed it out. It was pictures of coach and horses, and looking closely you could see minor differences in them.
Luckily B&Q still had a few rolls in stock.
