Viewing balance on Liberty eg4v11 meter?

So I recently had this smart meter fitted but its not connecting to my online account or in house display. Utilita don't seem to be in a hurry to sort it and I have to wait a month for an engineer to come out and look.
Is there a way to view my credit balance on the meter itself? If I top up with the card will it automatically go onto the meter?
Sorry if it sounds stupid but im struggling to get my head round this one, the last meter was so much simpler.
