eON Next - Smart Meter Version 1 not working

Hi,
Just want to know if anyone else has the same problem.
My eON Next smart meter (version 1) stopped communicating in April and after several calls and emails they still can tell me when it will be upgraded , either software upgrade or replaced.
The problem I have is that the the actual meter is in a cellar and I have mobility problems. I still have the base unit which I can see the usage etc. its just the meter readings are not being sent to eON Next.
Does anyone know what timescale we are looking at for upgrades ??
kind regards,
Rob

Can you read the meter using the IHD, if you can and it's registering it correctly, then it's easy to send in readings via your on-line account.
That what I did until my SMETS1 meter started working properly and transmitting readings to EoN earlier this year (my meter is an old SSE meter installed in 2017) My IHD shows the actual meter readings if you work your way through the menu's and find the right page.
There isn't a timescale as such, meters will be enrolled as a when the supplier requests them to be and I guess they probably do it in batches when they get around to it although I dont know whether they actually put a great deal of effort into sorting out duff meters. AFAIK suppliers are monitored on the number of meters they install, rather than on the number that actually work properly
Looking at a lot of other threads on a similar subject, none of the suppliers seem to be very motivated to sort out meters that don't send in readings or even stop working altogether, so dont hold your breath.Never under estimate the power of stupid people in large numbers0
