Hsbc ppi claim still not resolved what do I do?

Options
Hi all

apologies as I’m very lacking in knowledge around this area.
a long time ago I did as Martin suggested and filled in lots of forms on resolva re any ppi claims. I don’t have any records of anything I might have taken out and would have been very young at the time straight out of uni so even more naive about finances. I do recall paying for payment protection stuff however and only ever banked or mortgaged with hsbc during that time.
i heard very little and then got emails saying no claims form resolva but then had a form from hsbc some times ago I filled in and returned.
Never heard a thing and forgot about it u til April this year when they wrote to me apologising for not being able to investigate.
they’ve now written to me again about it and saying I can go to the ombudsman to complain but that they will come back to me by 31st dec.
i have no copy of the paper work I sent or in the resolva stuff as it was lost recently in a house move.

what did I do? It must be years they’ve been looking at this and even April till now is ridiculous.

I’ve no idea if or what I may be owed and have no records so I don’t really know what to say to the ombudsman other than they’ve taken years to investigate.

any advice would be great as I have a feeling I will be owed something I’ve just no idea what.

thanks for any help!

Well, the FOS won`t be able to investigate if you don`t have any of the details, they usually insist on a final response as well before they get involved.

Why not try the FOS helpline, and see what they advise.

You can also send a SAR to Resolver, to get whatever information they may hold on you, as long as you made your complaint less than 6 years ago, they should have retained that information.

  • HSBC are clearly doing a thorough investigation, this is good for you as it means they will be able to confirm conclusively if you had this cover or not. As to whether it was miss-sold - what evidence do you have for a complaint? Young and naive is not a complaint reason any more than being old and naive is - an adult is expected to be able to understand what they are signing up for
