thanks

Have you tried https://support.hp.com/ ? My HP laptop has a service manual on there that has cutaways and instructions for fitting replacement USB boards (and everything else). Will give you the part number too.1

Involves taking the laptop to pieces. If the USB port in question is on what's called a daughterboard (ie a separate board on its own connected by a cable to the main big board), then you can just replace that daugherboard..If the port in question is on the main board, you're sort of stuck really as replacement boards will probably be more than the laptop is reasonably worth.2

Thanks a lot guys , hopefully it's on a daughter board .
8f not I assume the only solution is to solder? The laptop only has 1 X usb port (the broken one )0 -
Assuming it this one:Then the service guide, here:Suggests it should have three USB ports, not one:"USB 3.2 Gen 2 type-C port (1) [and] USB 3.2 Gen 1 type-A ports (2)"

Hi guys this is my laptop

unfortunately by the looks of it , the USB port (next to the DC connect) is soldered to the mother board
Thankfully there is one on the other side I can use (sorry you were right above poster , there are 2 x USB A ports and 1 x USB C port)

You can cheaply get a usb-c to usb-a (female) adaptor which will give you another usb-a port.
on ebay, search: usbc otg

Soldering on a new USB port will be an easy task for an electronics repair shop.
