Gas smart meter error

Last night I had to put my gas on emergency credit as 61p was left and no money till Tuesday next week to top up.
When I pressed the a button I had an error message battery door open.
Pushed the battery door to see if it would work and the meter came back to life and I was able to activate emergency credit.
Came back upstairs and IHD had cut out on the gas side so went back down to meter and same error code back again.
So pushing the battery door compartment meter comes back to life so dodgy meter it is.
Rang BG (wish I hadn't) the adviser said I had no credit on the meter that is why the error code is showing?????????
Then because I cannot top up till next week my meter was taken off of prepayment mode so now I have no idea how much I am using.
My electric account has over £90 in credit due to the energy support does anyone know if BG will move some of it and is this error a common one ?
Sorry bit long winded but I am a bit baffled.

Hi, I’ve just had this conversation with them and was told unfortunately they can’t move credit between the gas/electric accounts. I asked them as gov credit has gone on to electric and I needed it on the gas instead, but the answer was no. Seems silly as I know with other companies (eon definitely) you can transfer it yourself on their app, so seems like just BG that won’t allow you to, for my situation anyway. Did you get it sorted with them?0
