No energy bill

My tenant moved out of my other house in August and and I put the house up for sale and it will be sold shortly. Since getting the property back I have not had a bill for gas and electricity. The previous tenant has successfully switched his account with Scottish Power to his new address when he moved so I was expecting a letter from them so I can be set up as a new customer for the short period I have it back. What can I do to push this? I thought I would be with Scottish Power as surely they are the nominated supplier for my gas and electric meters. Although it is great not paying I don't want it to be a mess when handing it over to the new owner - any advice?

How about contacting Scottish Power ?  It is your responsibility to tell them you are the new "occupier"

Basically you are on deemed contract, get in touch with Scottish Power and take the opening reading and closing reading later in when you get new tenant in. I do hope that you did let the Council know as well since you are liable since August for the Council Tax.

Yes,contact Scottish Power and set up an account in your name.
You as the owner are responsible for payment from when the last person moved out until the new one moves in.
Assumming you have the opening and closing meter readings from your tenant?,so should be straightforward enough, probably also might be a wise idea to take photos of the readings in case of dispute.
