Cold water tank constantly making noise like it's heating water (even when it's off)

Hi just wandering what could went wrong. Around lunch time today, I happened to be in the bathroom/toilet and I heard very loud banging noises from the water tank. Dk, can you get a stepladder and look in to that black tank? It should have a liftable lid.

If you can, take some photos showing the ballcock too.
