Non corrosive drain unblocker?

I don't like using drain unblockers because they tend to do a great job at corroding your pipe, which causes a bigger issue down the line
Given that's the case, would something like this be fine?

1. The best way to unblock drains is to mechanically remove the blockage.
2. All liquid "magic bullet" un-blockers rely on staying in contact with the blockage long enough to dissolve / destroy it. If there is any flow at all, the un-blocker will go past the blockage before attacking it.
3. I've no idea whether the product you are looking at would work. Instinct says not, but worth a try.
4. I'd suggest making sure one dissolves in water over a few days, because if it doesn't, it could make the blockage worse.

Ask yourself why your drains are blocking.
What are you putting down them that blocks them ?
I have never used drain unblockers in 50 years.

It's probably just bicarbonate of soda with some colouring pressed into a cake. And you don't get a lot of it, it gives the weight at 0.1kg and that may even be including packaging.I'd go for the bicarb of soda followed by vinegar route myself; plenty of how tos on the internet.1

A combination of replies 1 and 2. Much waste piping comes apart easily for cleaning and you can remove all the crud, not just enough for water to flow until next time. Don't put stuff down the sink that blocks it.Tall, dark & handsome. Well two out of three ain't bad.0

If these are a genuine product, they are likely to use the same technology as the pads used in water-saving or flushless urinals. These tend to be a combination of a slow-release non-ionic surfactant and bacterial spores that will grow out and help eliminate odours. In addition there is a suggestion of an enzyme content, probably to aid in dissolving fats.outtatune said:It's probably just bicarbonate of soda with some colouring pressed into a cake. The technology is sound. Whether the product itself works, you'll only know by trying.1 -
Tbh I don't however I've noticed I've found food in the sink which is really annoying. Like only waste water should go down the bloody sinkEssexExile said:A combination of replies 1 and 2. Do you have long hair? That tends to block a shower very quickly. You can pull it out but some inevitably goes further down the pipe.greyteam1959 said:Ask yourself why your drains are blocking.
