HSBC Easy Access Account

You may not need a current account to open the account, but you will need one to make a withdrawal as you cannot setup a payee from this savings account. As you are an existing customer you are required to open in branch not quite an easy access saver after all around trip of 20 odd miles for me

I had a savings account (having switched my current account out) and opened the 3.00% saver and a new current account online.

If you hold a savings account, you cannot open a current account online as you are an existing customer and you are required to open in branch as stated on web site prior to application

This must have changed in the last 12 days.

I still had online access through an old savings account and opened a 3.00% saver on 22nd October. I then found that I could not set up a payee. I applied for a current account on 22nd October which was opened on 29th October.
