Auto Trader World’s Biggest Quiz – Competition and Prize Draw Terms and Conditions

The Promoters
1. The Promoters are:
The Promotion and Quiz
1. The title of the Promotion is Auto Trader’s World’s Biggest Quiz (the Quiz).
2. The promotion comprises elements of:
  1. a competition, because Players will be ranked in terms of their score in the Quiz depending on how many questions they correctly answer and how quickly they answer them (this is known as the Ranking); and
  2. a prize draw because some Prizes will be available as Lucky Dip Prizes for Players to win simply by virtue of them participating in the Quiz, (the Promotion).
3. The Quiz is also going to be a Guinness World Record attempt whereby the Promoters wish to win the title of Largest Online Quiz. By participating in the Quiz, Players agree to be a part of this Guinness World Record attempt. A representative from Guinness will be observing the Quiz in order to track the Guinness World Record attempt.
4. In order to contribute towards the Guinness World Record attempt, Players must participate in the entire Quiz.
Eligibility
1. The Promotion is open to UK residents aged 17 or over at the time of entering the Quiz, including employees of Auto Trader and its group companies (Autorama UK Limited and Blue Owl Network Limited) (but excluding any employees who have been directly involved in the production and execution of the Quiz) as well as to Auto Trader’s dealer network, and excluding employees of Piing.
2. To win an electric car, the Winner must have and be able to show a full driving licence valid in the UK.
Quiz entry and participation
1. The Quiz will take place on 15 November 2022 at 19:00 GMT and the Quiz will last approximately between one and one and a half hours (Quiz Period).
2. To participate in the Quiz, you must visit: www.autotrader.co.uk/cars/electric during the Quiz Period and follow the link to watch the live broadcast and register to participate in the Quiz as a player (Player).
3. By participating in the Quiz, you are confirming that you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions. If you do not agree to these Terms & Conditions, or you are not eligible for the Promotion, then you should not participate in the Quiz.
4. Entrants may only participate once in the Quiz as a Player (no multiple entries or entries on multiple devices are allowed).
5. No purchase necessary; however, internet access and a valid email address are required.
6. If you seek to participate in the Quiz after the start of the Quiz Period then you may participate as a Player but your entry will not be counted towards the Guinness World Record attempt. A maximum of 50,000 Players may participate in the Quiz.
7. During the Quiz, Players will be given a Ranking. Ranking will be ordered by the most correct answers, with the highest time bonus, as determined by Piing’s Quiiz software system. Winners of the Competition Prizes and two of the Main Prizes will be selected and determined by their Ranking (see section 5 below). In the event of multiple Winners with the same number of correct answers and the same time bonus, entries will be ordered and ranked by Piing’s Quiiz software platform.
8. Players must answer at least one question correctly to be eligible for any Lucky Dip Prizes. For each correct answer, the Player will have one Lucky Dip entry to the prize draw for a Lucky Dip Prize (see section 5.a.ii. below).
9. Players must enter their correct contact details into the form to be eligible to win a Prize.
10. Whilst all best efforts will be made by the Promoters to ensure that the Quiz content is correct and the software platform is functioning correctly at the time of broadcast, any errors in the Quiz content or the software platform will not affect the competition Ranking.
Prize allocation and Winner selection
1. The following prizes will be awarded during the Quiz (Prizes):
  1. Competition Prizes: Auto Trader will give away 10 prizes at the end of each round to those Players who are ranked in certain positions (those positions to be communicated during the Quiz but likely to be 1, 10, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 2000, 3000, 4000 and 5000 at that time). Auto Trader reserves the right to adjust the rankings of the prize distributions during the Quiz if the total number of Players is fewer than 5000 (for example if there are a total of 4600 Players, the prize that would have been given for the Player ranked 5000 may be given to the Player ranked 4500). Note that 2 of these Competition Prizes will comprise Main Prizes.
  2. Lucky Dip Prizes: There will be a 100 Lucky Dip Prizes available to win, with the Winners randomly selected from Players who have answered at least 1 question correctly. For each correct answer, the Player will have one Lucky Dip entry to the prize draw for a Lucky Dip Prize. Note that 1 of the Lucky Dip Prizes will comprise a Main Prize.
  3. Main Prizes: There will be 3 main prizes available to win. At the end of round 3, Auto Trader will give away a Super Soco TSX 50cc Electric Bike to the Player in 1st place. At the end of the final round, Auto Trader will give away a Vauxhall Mokka Electric Car to the Player in 1st place. A Vauxhall Corsa Electric Anniversary Electric Car will be available to win as one of the Lucky Dip Prizes.
2. For your total confidence, the Prizes will be selected independently by Piing, on the criteria set out above and winners of the Prizes (Winners) will be announced as soon as possible following the Quiz Period.
3. Subject to paragraph 6.c., the Prizes are not transferable, re-saleable or exchangeable, unless express consent has been given by Auto Trader, and cannot be redeemed for monetary value or for any other form of compensation. If for any reason any element of a Prize is not available, Auto Trader reserves the right, at its sole discretion to substitute another prize for it, of equal or greater value.
4. A Player will only be able to win one Main Prize. If any Player is awarded more than one Main Prize then they can choose which of the Main Prizes they wish to keep, and the other Main Prize(s) will be allocated to the runner up for that Main Prize(s).
Contacting Winners
1. The Promoters reserve the right to verify the eligibility of Winners. The Promoter may require such information as it considers reasonably necessary for this purpose and a Prize may be withheld unless and until the Promoter is satisfied with the verification.
2. The decision of the Promoter in relation to the Promotion, Winners and Quiz content is final. No correspondence will be entered into.
3. A Winner of a Main Prize will not be able to re-sell the vehicle for 3 months following delivery. Should the Winner wish to sell a Main Prize during the first three months, they must obtain the consent of Auto Trader by emailing competitions@autotrader.co.uk.
Further Prize Details and Conditions:
1. In relation to the Main Prizes:
  1. they will be available for home delivery or collection from the retailer site (travel expenses will be reimbursed by Auto Trader up to £200);
  2. if the Winner wishes to drive the vehicles they must have a full driving licence valid in the UK for a car or bike (as applicable);
  3. if the vehicle is to be driven on a public highway, insurance cover must be obtained by the Winner prior to collection of the vehicle;
  4. Auto Trader cannot guarantee that the vehicle will not be pre-registered to Auto Trader or its associated companies;
  5. maintenance, services and running costs of the vehicle are the responsibility of the Winner from the date of ownership. This date will be confirmed with the Winner in writing following Winner acknowledgement of the Prize;
  6. as at the date of these Terms & Conditions, the Main Prizes are currently exempt from road tax as they are fully electric vehicles; and
  7. vehicle warranty will vary dependent on the vehicle, the warranty and its duration will be confirmed with the Winner before delivery.
2. Any pictures depicting the Prizes on any media including press advertisements, posters or TV commercials are indicative only and the actual Prizes may vary from the depictions. The Quiz does not constitute an endorsement or recommendation of the products being offered as Prizes.
3. The Prize must be taken as stated and no compensation will be payable if a Winner is unable to use the Prize as stated. The Winner will be liable for all costs and expenses not stated in these Terms & Conditions relating to claiming the Prize.
4. If the Promotion is not capable of running as planned for reasons including but not limited to tampering, unauthorised intervention, fraud, dishonesty, technical failures, or any other causes beyond the control of the Promoters which corrupts or affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or proper conduct of this Promotion, the Promoters reserve the right to (as applicable and in the discretion of the Promoters):
  1. disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process or does not comply with these Terms & Conditions (including the eligibility criteria) or invalidate any affected entries;
  2. cancel, modify, postpone or suspend the Promotion; and/or
  3. award the Prizes based upon the most up to date Rankings as at the time of any disruption.
5. No responsibility can be taken for entries (including any contact details) which are lost, delayed, corrupted, damaged, misdirected, incomplete, incorrect, misspelled or which cannot be delivered for any technical, delivery or other reason. Proof of entering will be determined solely by Piing’s Quiiz platform. The Promoters do not guarantee continuous or secure access to the microsite.
Publicity
1. The Promoters will share the overall Quiz Winner’s username with Guinness World Records, as part of their records for verification of the Guinness World Record attempt. By participating in the Quiz you agree that the Promoters can share your username in this way if you are the overall Quiz Winner.
2. The Promoters would like the Winners to participate in publicity arising from the Promotion (for example press releases and other public communications). The Winners are under no obligation to participate in this publicity and the Promoters will only do this with the Winners’ consent. Participation is at the Winner's discretion and is not a condition of Prize acceptance.
3. The Promoters will share Winners’ contact information with selected third parties, for the purposes of delivering Prizes to Winners.
4. It is the responsibility of each Player to provide their correct, up-to-date details when entering the Promotion and/or confirming acceptance of the Prize in order for their Prize to be processed. The Promoters are not responsible for Winners failing to supply accurate information which affects Prize acceptance or delivery of their Prize.
Privacy
Any and all personal data supplied for the running of this Promotion will be used solely for the purpose of this Promotion by the Promoters and will not be disclosed to a third party for any other purpose unless your positive consent has been obtained. Your personal data will be handled in accordance with the Promoters’ privacy policies, available at:https://www.autotrader.co.uk/privacy-notice and https://piing.events/privacy.
General
1. The Promoters reserve the right to update these Terms & Conditions at any time.
2. The Promoters together with any of their associated entities will not be liable for any losses (including, without limitation, indirect, special or consequential losses or loss of profits), expenses or damages which are suffered or sustained (whether or not arising from any person's negligence) in connection with this Promotion or accepting or using any Prize, or any loss of opportunity in receiving a Prize, except for any liability which cannot be excluded by law. Nothing will exclude the Promotors’ liability for death or personal injury as a result of its negligence.
3. An entry must be made directly by the individual entering the Promotion. Bulk entries from trade, consumer groups or third parties will not be accepted. Incomplete or illegible entries and entries submitted by macros or other automated means together with entries which do not satisfy the requirements of these Terms & Conditions in full will be disqualified and will be not be counted. If it becomes apparent that a Player is using a computer(s) to circumvent this condition by, for example, the use of 'script', 'brute force', masking their identity by manipulating IP addresses, using identities other than their own or any other automated means in order to increase that Player's entries into the Promotion in a way that is not consistent with the rules of the Promotion, that Player’s entries will be disqualified and any Prize awarded will be void. Players are not permitted to enter using anonymous email services such as, but not limited to, GuerillaMail, Dispostable or Mailinator.
4. The Promoters will not be liable for any failure to comply with their obligations or any delay in performing their obligations within these Terms & Conditions if an act, omission, event or circumstance occurs caused by (but not limited to) global or regional health crises, weather conditions, fire, flood, strike, hurricane, industrial dispute, war, terrorist activity, hostilities, political unrest, riots, civil commotion, epidemic, pandemic, famine, plague or other natural calamities and acts of God, or any other circumstances beyond the reasonable control of the Promoters.
5. The Promoter may refuse to award a Prize in the event of any Player’s fraud, dishonesty, breach or non-entitlement under these Terms & Conditions or seek recovery of any Prize or its value if the Prize has been awarded.
6. If any provisions of these Terms & Conditions are judged to be invalid, illegal or unenforceable, this will not affect or impact the continuation in full force and effect the remainder of the provisions.
7. By entering the Quiz, you will be deemed to have agreed to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.
8. If a discrepancy between these Terms & Conditions and the details in any promotional material arises, the details in these Terms & Conditions will prevail.
9. These Terms & Conditions are governed by English law and their interpretation and application will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
