Hi everyone,
Coxy, I'm glad your mum is feeling better, fingers crossed it continues.
The funeral yesterday went as well as it could, although the poor widower was very confused, they were married 66 years and I get the feeling he will be unable to live without her, despite the fact that she really wasn't mentally present the last few years.
We're going home at some point today. Laura is having a bit of a nightmare with the Dr's. They're usually very good but the one she saw this week seems to have been hopeless. Earlier in the week he didn't want her to have antibiotics for an infected finger, fair enough but it got worse and he decided it needed it yesterday (after trying unsuccessfully to lance it). He then said that he'd have to research what to give her because she's 38 weeks pregnant and allergic to penicillin, surely not a rare occurrence. Anyway the prescription didn't reach the pharmacy and this morning she's received a message to say he's not going to prescribe anything and to put cream on it. I've told her to contact the maternity unit to see if they can suggest anything but I think I need to be there because she needs to rest especially as it's Esben's birthday weekend and it will be busy.
I am so over everyone being ill!
Have a good day.11 -
Hello all, I'm so fed up with the weather of lashing rain and gale force winds, I nearly got the Ark out of moth balls yesterday! Now we're having a showery day today.
I had a moany phone call with Dad last night when he moaned about anything and everything and then yet another tussle with him about his meds. I order them for delivery, but then have to keep telling him I'm not in charge as to when they are delivered 🤬 I'm on the brink of telling him to sort it out himself again, and I know what sort of mess he made of that last time!! And breathe.......Sorry for the rant.
This morning I had a lie in, well till woody woodpecker (the electrician) started tapping next door, I'll be glad when the house is finished. Nothing planned for today so I'll just potter about. I found a hm mince beef bolognaise sauce in the freezer, so we'll have that today with pasta or a jacket potato.
Coxy Trago consists of 4 stores that I know of, Merthyr Tydfil, Liskeard, Falmouth and Newton Abbott. They sell anything and everything all under one roof.
Take care all, hugs to the poorly ones and anyone in need.
nan xx

Morning
Late one here. Waiting on an Asda delivery. No subs or OOS. Not much food either tbh as I still need to run down freezer space think its 2 years at least Ive been doing this. Got the two tubs of choccies on offer for the unmentionable day. I'll give mum one for her birthday that she can share out with other residents or just store it in her room for self indulgence. Not happy about them removing Bounty, that's my favourite. Got myself Heros in protest!
Need to sort some out some bits for mum to open today. Still not heard about the trip yet, maybe they all went clubbing in Blackpool and are having a thick head lie in!!
Not much on today need to put stuff away and tidy up. Its a gorgeous blue sky and sunny day seems we have the skipped the rain which is unusual.
Another Ninja fanatic here Rosy in fact the oven hasn't been on for months now. There's a UK based cookbook on amazon now so the guess work goes out of it a little (pressy for DS?)
DP1 wish could see you walking the pram to your mum and dads......cute!
Have a good day all x11 -
Afternoon all. Been to our cycling project this morning where we volunteer. Horrid weather so just took some admin to the coffee shop to do!

Morning/Afternoon all..Completeyl lazy today so far, got up at ten , went to bed at three...I'm just all over the place this week. Today I'm not doing anything special, going to see OHs mum for a coffee and think about dyeing some curtains from ebay. They're kind of magenta but they're a bit 'sudden' as my sister would say and I do like a chocolate brown. I got some dye from Trago in anticipation of this, hope it works.@Coxy11 what nanny said. There are a few but not many, but they are massive. And for some reason, they're all designed like mini castles with turrets everywhere...They sell pretty much everything, including motorbikes/mopeds, furniture, kitchen, lighting, DIY, car stuff, cleaning stuff, toys, games, crafts, garden stuff, there's a garden center in the one in Merthyr [don't know about the others but someone told me they have proper gardens in one of them], horse riding stuff, etc. They're not cheap cheap but they're not expensive. And the one in Merthyr has little shops around the courtyard like a butchers, coffee shop, food place, farm shop, fish and chip shop...Glad you got some help with the POA too! Gers, the belly pork sounds fab! I made veg and bean soup yesterday but now I want meat! Rosy, how good of him to trust you with his new toy! Even better it worked as intended
snoozer, how sad for him...my father was the same though, he didn't know what to do with himself when my mother went. Get well soon to your tribe! Take care of yourselves today all, and nods to the poorly or peed off....

Coxy - you're more than welcome, it's tough enough looking after an elderly parent or partner without wading your way through processes and prodecures. I just hope that it all helps.I've booked to see 'Banshees...' and 'Living' when I'm down in Glasgow next week. That'll make for a packed two days as I'm going to see 'House of Mormon' too. Musicals are not my favourite form of theatre but my closest friend said that it's fabulous
so I'm giving it a try.
Today has turned out the complete opposite of yesterday, from the end of the world to the start of it. Bright but cold sunshine and not a drop of rain. Shame that I don't have any washing to do. I've opened the front door wide to let some of the fresh air in and I've brought in two more bags of logs - I use the Ikea big bags - so that I'm ready for the cold. I've also cleaned the oven door glass and the inside of the microwave.A new mini-book by Mick Herron has been released so I've ordered that. The audio book was not good value of money as it only lasts for one hour and six minutes and is £4.00 more than the book. 😲I'm still listening to Rebus though only when driving.Taff - happy dyeing!Nelski - I like Bounty bars too, I may have to buy one tomorrow now.Nan - tell an elderly parent things again and again is just par for the course. Mind you, sometimes I forget something which I've been told more than once. It feels as if my brain is full! I've just messed up paying into two different saving accounts with the same provider and earlier I managed to block my online access to it by putting in the wrong password three times!I'm recovering by having another coffee.
Snoozer - I hope that Laura gets some appropriate help very soon, an infection can be nasty. At least you are on the case.11 -
@snoozer I always keep a tube of brulidine cream in my first aid box. It's been around for donkeys years but I find it very good. It was recommended to me by a pharmacist years ago when I got an infected blister on my hand from gardening. It's in a yellow tube and not really expensive. I think they sell it in superdrug but probably other places too.6

Hope Laura's finger gets better soon Snoozer.

House of Mormon is a bit close to the mark @Gers (actually over the line in some places...) but we enjoyed it when we saw it in London a few years ago. I too want to see Living, I love Bill Nighy.Cross-stitch WIP: Fiver Friday challenge 2025 founding member 😊 Read 25 books in 2025 11/25 Currently reading The Cliff House by Amanda Jennings5

Can anyone answer a question for me...it might be one of those daft questions everyone else knows the answer to.....
Do cheap teabags have less caffeine in than more expensive ones? I usually buy decaffeinated ones cos I prefer them but spotted some Everyday Value ones in Asda this morning for just 39p x4
