A deposit of £5 a head is pretty standard for most restaurants for large bookings. One that we visit quite often asks for this for tables over 6 people.They can only keep the deposit however if they can demonstrate that this would be their loss (and they’d also have to try and mitigate this).Depending on the restaurant, they may get another booking which would mean your deposit should be refunded. If they don’t, then I don’t see why you should be refunded.In any event though, if they don’t refund your only option is an LBA and small claims. And for £35, is it worth it?0
