Scottish Power faulty smart meter

Hi All

Has anyone had any experience with a faulty gas smart meter with Scottish Power recently?  My Gas meter is not showing any meter readings and is completely dead therefore, I cannot provide meter readings and Scottish Power cannot extract them.  I have made numerous attempts to rectify this issue however, I either cannot get in touch by telephone or chat to us or when I do, I have had an appointment for an engineer cancelled then been told there's no appointments for the foreseeable.  I was told ofgem were aware of this issue but can't find any information can anyone provide any experience they have had for this and how they rectified it as I am being charged for estinate billings continuously.

Thank you

The battery has died by the sound of it and being a smart gas meter it should have notified the DCC six months before that the battery was needing changing. The display would have shown a F or B symbol after the reading
Instead of changing a £15 battery suppliers nowadays change the whole meter.

If you can t wake the display up by holding down the on button for a couple of seconds then the battery has definitely  died . Digital gas meters smart or dumb are designed to shut off the gas supply when the battery dies , so is your meter passing gas ok ?
If its passing gas then the valve has remained open when the battery died so now it cannot record units and the supplier will just estimate on past historical usage .

In other words you can use as much as you like until Scottish Power can be bothered to turn up and change the meter  and you  don t have to try and economise like many of us are doing by turning the temperature down.

The flip side is, if you were trying to cut down usage in the hope of keeping your bills lower, it will now make no difference as SP will estimate on previous use.
