Glow Worm Ultracom2 CXI boiler won't turn on

Hi all,
I'm hoping toget some advice regarding my Glow-Worm Ultracom2 CXI combi boiler please. It was working yesterday but taking a little while for the hot water to kick in, but this morning it was off completely. No error on the screen, just completely blank and no sound.
I've tried turning it off and on at the wall and also checked the fusebox and turned the circuit off and back on but it's still not kicked in. I can't get an appointment with a BG engineer until Friday so I wanted to see if there's anything I could check first.
Thanks in advance.

Is there a fuse in the main switch on the wall?'Dead' usually means either a simple fuse, or a not-simple PCB. But even the latter don't have to be too costly as you can buy refurbished ones. And no idea IF it's the PCB, of course...1

@Bendy_House Thanks for your suggestion. I've just checked (and changed) the fuse but this hasn't resolved it. The fuse works perfectly in another socket. I guess I'll have to wait until the engineer can review it on Friday.1

Can't suggest anything else, alas. Deed is deed. Often just one component - a capacitor - blown on the board. Mind you, the board has fuses on it too, I think? But, don't 'go there' unless you really know what you are doing...To confirm - it is doing NOTHING? No CH, now't? It's as if it were turned offski?1

My sister's combi boiler suddenly stopped working yesterday evening. Whilst it seemed to power on the burner wouldn't turn on and heat any water. At first she called out an engineer via her Corgi service plan but he wouldn't come out until late next week. So I went up to have a quick look and whilst there checked her meters and it turned out the gas supply had been shut off.
Got an emergency engineer out during the evening who ended up swapping out her old gen 1 smart meter for a standard meter which fixed the problem. Turns out her supplier, Eon, had done some systems update and hadn't included the older types of smart meter causing them to disconnect the gas supply. Not sure if this was an isolated incident or not, but worth checking your gas supply.2 -
Thanks both.
It's definitely not the gas as it's not turning on at all, no digital screen etc. Water has started dripping from the boiler this morning so we've managed to go on the emergency list for today. Fingers crossed they can fix it under the BG cover we have.1 -
Hmmm....water......electrics......
I have an earlier GW CXi, and many moons ago an 'unstopped' gutter end (this was during a loft conversion) allowed a nice gush of rainwater to land directly on the flue outlet, some of which came in the inlet. Wet boiler innards, and fan PCB knack'd.
More recently a hydrobloc cracked, sending a thin jet of water everywhere inside...
Drips from your boiler will either be from the sealed 'system' (ie, the water in your rads), a blocked and overflowing condensate trap, or external rain. Not that it helps to know that
Do you have boiler cover, or are you going for a fixed- price repair?0 -
You've certainly had some issues then! Seems like something always needs fixing.
The engineer didn't show up again.. Even though the advisor insisted they would on various calls. :-( I'm just hoping they show up today. We have boiler cover with British Gas. Fingers crossed.

I'm struggling to think of a single part that hasn't been replaced on ours! The burner, possibly.
Tbf, ours is getting on - around 16 years old.0 -
I had the same issue on this boiler a few years back. Issue is a fuse on the PCB which has blown. Replace the fuse and with any luck it should start to work. In my case the fuse went again. Turned out the system pump was blowing the fuse.0

Thanks all for your help. The engineer replaced the circuit board and the display unit and it's all working. He couldn't identify the reason they stopped working so we shall keep our fingers crossed.2
