Hi there

Is there anyone who can explain what Eon is doing please?

According to what's showing on my account I go more into debt each time they generate a statement - which is what I would expect.

And so everytime I make a payment the account should be less in debt.

So as of 2/10 after the last statement the account was at -451.92.  Then there was the credit of £66 so the debt dropped to £385.92.  A payment of £80 dropped it further to £305.92.  BUT THEN another credit of £67 (the 2nd gov support credit) INCREASED the amount I owe.

No statements have been generated so what the hey?

(fyi - no I'm not concerned about being in debt to them, that is not a problem)

Check your bank account over the next 10 days, they might have credit your account and then debited it to fund your bank account.

Based on the dates, I'd guess the consumption has been charged against the balance but has yet to show up on the statement. Why that would be, I can't imagine. See how it looks in a couple of days.

OK - so the £80 DD has been taken from my bank account.  But no money put in.

And it doesn't make sense that the £80 & £67 are both showing as credits to the account but are doing different things to the account balance.

I've sent eon an email asking them to correct their error.

Their crediting to account has gone slow  I had a direct debit leave my bank account on a Monday. It reflected in my eonnext account on the Friday.
    Very slow.

Their customer service team is extremely slow too at present...

I would guess the £67 will show up in your bank account very shortly. It's not the government EBSS payment for November, as that won't have come in yet. Doesn't make sense that they show it as +£67 on the statement, but maybe it's because they've paid it to you. On my Eon Next account, they just reduced my DD by £67 and don't show the £67 separately on the account transactions.
    Weird accounting! :)

Slight change and an email from eon customer service to admit there was an error.

So my eon account has been credited with £66 and they have paid £67 into my bank account.  So it appears I'm up £1 on the deal.

I guess this can serve as another warning (should one be needed) that it's important to review your accounts regularly and get someone to sort things out when things go wrong.

Not really.  They have effectively reduced your DD by the £67 they said they would.  Your energy account has received £1 less than it normally would.

It's all down to £400 not being easily divisible by 6. You'll get four lots of £67 and two of £66 credited to your account, although not necessarily in that order!  :)
