I'd never heard of these. Might be a stupid question but where does the waste go? Into a tank? Does the householder empty the tank like they'd do with an RV but then RVs go to a certain location to get this done. I'd like a toilet fitted under the stairs, which is why I'm asking.0

Normal sewage pipes are rather large, so your poops can go on their waterslide adventure without the need for anything except gravity to propel them to their final destination.
Turd-mincer toilets have a thinner pipe, and pump out the waste to get it going on its way to the sewage drain. The much thinner pipe means you can put them virtually anywhere in the house without having to worry about getting the gravity of a large pipe fall through your house.
Maybe I'm just unlucky. I've had a few plumbers round who I've asked about them and some seem to say that I have too many twists and turns in my pipe which is causing issues, but one in particular just blocks the pipe all day long. Hate it, it's the bane of my existence and honestly I am going to be ripping out two bathrooms as soon as I can afford because I can't wait to get rid of them. 4 days after we moved in, we had sewage coming up the shower plug. I just can't stand them.2 -

We have a saniflo macerator toilet fitted 9 years ago, never had a problem other than when son in law put wipes down there after cleaning up after his son before we could stop him. Hubs, who is handy, took it apart and cleared it.1
