ECP Parking charge notice.

Hi all,
I hope you can help. Yesterday I received a parking charge notice from Euro Car Parks for £100 as "The vehicle was parked without a valid pay by phone transaction". The car park is next to my place of work and was a car park for Wickes and Halfords. Both shops have been vacated and they are now just empty buildings. Due to this and the terms and conditions sign being covered by a security company board, I assumed that there was no longer a fee for parking there. I parked in a space right next to the entrance to the car park so didn't see any other signs stating there was still a fee to pay other than a "1 hour free parking for customers only" sign. But again, there are no longer any shops there to be customers of. Even if there were other signs further in the car park, they wouldn't have been seen as the street lights in the car park weren't even on so it was very dark. I have parked there another 4 or 5 times since and am worried I'm going to get a lot more tickets now. Do I have any grounds for appeal?
Thanks all!

Appeal using a photo of this as evidence (a photo taken in darkness to mirror the conditions when you parked):the terms and conditions sign being covered by a security company board,
Then the same to POPLA, with the usual other template appeal points shown in the 3rd post of the NEWBIES thread.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
