Incorrect NCD

Hi everyone, first post.

My new car insurance is asking for No Claims discount certificate. It should be 9 years but it says 2. I have never had to claim on my car insurance in the past. How do I correct this? Contact my last insurer or do the CUI hold those details?

thanks

Contract your last insurer... there are multiple data sharing solutions like CUE but not all insurers/brokers are signed up to all of them. The fact your new insurer has asked for proof points to either them not having access to all of them and/or the ones they do have access to doesnt confirm your claimed number of years.

The last time this was requested, by a new insurer, I contacted the previous insurer and they e-mailed a proof of N.C.D. "letter" which I forwarded to the new provider.
Does your renewal quote, from the other insurer, specify N.C.D. earned, even if a max. of 9 years? Or is the previous insurer stating 2 years?
    What "says 2"?
  • NCD certificate saying two years, new insurer I told them 9 years.  Not been involved in any claims.

How long have you been with the current insurer for? If its 2 years, did they load the previous years NCD onto the policy correctly? That may be the source of the issue?

Do you have proof of previous NCD before this?

What did your previous insurance policy documents show for NCD?

  • You'll have to contact your previous insurer, and see if they'll update from the one before that if it's not already combined. The CUE database logs claims, not NCD entitlement.

If they've got access to lexusnexus they might be able to validate it, but that's only if your previous insurer has the correct number of years.
