Hi All,
I've been following the energy saving threads on here and managed to get my electric usage right down.
In March 2022 I was paying £0.125 per kWh and am now paying the £0.32 per kWh. I used 324.45 kWh in March and 201.70 kWh in October.
This means it cost £56.03 in March and £61.88 in October (I don't think it includes standing charge or VAT). It's not bad though, especially when you consider the £66 a month government payment
All I have really done is stopped having a PC on 24hours a day (it is a power efficient one using about 50w), turned off anything not being used (using TPLink remote power sockets).Got an Air Fryer. Nothing I have saved has made any real detrimental effect on our day to day lives.
Just shows what can be done if needed, we waste so much energy and with a little bit of work you can save so much.

I have two desktop PC's one is in the bedroom to watch on-demand content when I'm in bed and it uses around 70W per hour whereas the one in the Livingroom only uses 48W per hour. Both are refurbished machines and cost less than £400 for both machines, I could have saved over £100 on each machine by having Linux on them but I didn't notice the option when buying them.
Just over 2 years ago I used to leave everything in standby mode and leave lights on when I should have turned them off, now I turn everything off at the wall socket except the fridge, freezer and router and cut my electric usage by over 35%, I also lowered the temperatures on the boiler and thermostat.Someone please tell me what money is1
