I've been trying to apply since the scheme opened last week in Scotland. I can't apply, because the system doesn't recognise my account number.
Numerous web chats/phone calls got me nowhere, until yesterday when 'Patrick' advised me that there was a technical issue, which BG was aware of, that should be fixed by the end of the day, and I'd be able to access it today.
No surprise that that's not the case, and I'm still told on the system that my account number is invalid, (it's not, 'Patrick' tried as well, and the system rejected him too).
British Gas at its finest.

British gas are awful.
If it was me I'd keep trying their online help.
You can do other things whilst you're in the queue.

I had a great result and got on a great tarriff this way just by persistence.
If you're not getting anyway then raise a formal complaint.

Hi.  I was able to apply and the application accepted for my dad.  His account number begins 85 and is 12 digits (all numbers) in length.  He was moved over to them with PFP closed.  It seems British Gas account numbers are in different formats and that is causing the problem.  Hope you get it sorted.
