PCNs From Euro Car Parks - M & S Car Park

760 Posts

So yesterday I received a PCN from ECP alleging that my car was parked overnight in the nearby M & S car park where I shop on a daily basis.
This is from memory the 5th such notice I have received so far this calendar year in exactly the same circumstances. Clearly there is a fault somewhere in the ECP system which does not link an exit with the same day arrival.
Up till now M & S have been cooperative and have had the notices cancelled on my behalf.
I am now very unhappy with the persistent and recurring nature of these Notices and am contemplating what further action I should take against ECP for their careless approach.
Fortunately I have a dash cam with a large capacity memory card and have the relevant footage to demonstrate that their allegations are baseless and not credible.
There is one slight complication in that the car is registered in my son’s name and the PCNs are issued in his name. He is working away from the UK and I am running, insuring and maintaining it with his permission.
Any thoughts would be welcome

Contact local and national press.
You could ask to see the store manager in person and show them a copy of the dashcam video.
Include a link to the video in complaints to everyone else.
ECP and the retail park landowner can do that (whitelisting is standard stuff).
Did you know this isn't an error, it's the NORM?

"As with all new technology, there are issues associated with its use:
a) Repeat users of a car park inside a 24 hour period sometimes find that their first entry is paired with their last exit, resulting in an ‘overstay’. Operators are becoming aware of this and should now be checking all ANPR transactions to ensure that this does not occur."
That article is from several years ago. ECP are in the BPA AOS yet they are not doing manual checks to discount double visits, it seems.CLICK at the top of this/any page where it says:
