It's easy to start investing. Open a brokerage account and buy some shares in e.g.,  renewable energy firms. Open a Nutmeg account and invest a small monthly sum in its SRI (aka ESG) portfolio. It doesn't have to be all or nothing.

If you want an idea of what's going on start reading the FT and Investors' Chronicle.

Or just don't and stick to chasing the best savings accounts.
    Thanks
    That's really interesting
I like the idea of getting involved one small step at a time

Do you  have any more suggestions

you could always try committing £50 or £100 a month to see how you get on instead of investing large chunks of your money. It maybe your confidence will grow over time and if you select funds to suit your risk appetite then it may not be such a roller coaster ride. although there is always a risk with investing and even with low risk funds they can still lose money as many people have discovered this year but hopefully by not as much as being 100% in equities.

there are lots of providers. well known ones include AJ Bell, Hargreaves Lansdown and Vanguard. all the information about what they offer is on their websites but they don't provide any advice so you will need to do your own research as what funds may be most suitable.
