National insurance payments

My husband is 13 years older than  has full NI and receiving his pension.
I do not have full NI (forgot how many).
Would it be worth me paying the extra missing years or just tag on my husband's pension?
Also should my husband die before I claim any pension will I lose his?

State pensions are now individual, there is little opportunity to receive any spouse entitlement post 2016. Did he reach SPA pre 2016 ?  Making up gaps is possibly one of the best investments available.  If you post up exactly what your forecast show people here will point you in the right direction.

And how old is your husband?
Information I post is for England unless otherwise stated. Some rules may be different in other parts of UK.
  • At present my husband is 68 and started his 2019 i am 55. I only have 18 years full contributions as I worked overseas.

As you come under transitional rules the number of years really isn't all that important, it's your personal forecast that counts.

If you check gov.uk you should be able to see how much you have accrued to date and which years are available to add.

If you post that information then things will become clearer.
  • 18 years full contributions
13 years to contribute before 2034
20 years when you did not contribute  enough

What is your amount accrued up to April 2022 (or maybe still April 2021) ?
What are all the other amounts shown on the forecast ?
How many pre 2016 years are held, how many post ?
Have you any gaps post 2006 and are any of those gap years part filled ?

Is your husband receiving more or less than £185.15 per week (£740.60 every four weeks) SP?

    Look at this example

What exactly does your forecast say?
