I was moved to Shell Sept 2021 when Green went bust.I have not been able to get the final figures.I took pictures of my meters as advised by Martin Lewis but Shell have not accepted them.I have given regular meter readings but have not been able to get a bill from them When I ask I just get a list of the direct debits I have paid.
They agree I was nearly £500 in credit but I have been unable to get a corrected bill !

So Shell have agreed that you were £500 in credit and shown that credit on your Shell bill.
So your only dispute is about the opening meter reading that Shell are using.
Have Shell used an estimated opening meter reading? If not, where did they get the opening meter reading from? (I assume you don't have a smart meter.)Frustrated7 said:I have given regular meter readings but have not been able to get a bill from them When I ask I just get a list of the direct debits I have paid.
Do you mean Shell haven't sent you a bill? (Or do you mean Green's administrators?)
If they haven't sent you a bill, how do you know they are disputing your opening reading?
Have you signed up for an online account with Shell? You should be able to see all your bills, and meter readings history there.

Direct Debit v . Monthly Bill PaymentAm apparently hundreds of £s in credit with British Gas, following D.D. hike a few months ago.Does anyone know what the discount is for paying by DD. please?Because I am thinking I want to simply pay my bill monthly, as soon as I get my Smart meter installed next week.I don't have the time or energy to sit on the phone to ask BG - and I suspect they wouldn't tell me anyway!0

The discount is 7 to 10%.
You are aware that BG is only billing every 6 months, so your credit could be gone once you receive the next bill.0
