On what grounds could I reasonably request a reduction in price?

How do you think 99% of sellers would react if a buyer simply said they want to knock £5k off the price without giving a reason?!?!Sarah1Mitty2 said:They can ask for anything off the price they want, they may have multiple reasons for doing so, they don`t really need a reason or "grounds" for doing so, it is totally up to the seller how they react to lower offers.
You must be really unlucky, in 30 years of home ownership I've never needed an entire new roof. The price reduction will be whatever is needed to take it down to the surveyor's lower valuation won't it or are you hoping the seller will pay for a brand new roof for you?BigBoss said:So it turns out the property needs a new roof, and I absolutely will be asking for a price reduction. By how much, not sure yet as I'm awaiting a full spectrum of quotes.
