Removing electric cooker and fridge freezer

Hi
Im getting my kitchen replaced in a few weeks and need to do the above. I won't go near it without doing obvious things like turning the mains electric off. Is it still a safe thing to do by myself or would I need an electrician? Many thanks for any helpful replies.

fridge freezer should be no more complicated than unplugging it. cooker is probably wired into the switch but as long as the power is off its an easy and safe task to disconnect it. no more complicated than wiring a plug.0

If they're simply plugged into a standard 13A plug socket then there's no reason why you shouldn't be able to remove them yourself.0

More likely - into a cooker plate. And easier to disconnect.tightauldgit said:cooker is probably wired into the switch

Yeah, fridge will unplug, the hob will probably unplug as well but if it doesn't just whip off the electric and unscrew to remove the wires.

I'm sure you mean "whip of the electric check that there is no power at the outlet and unscrew to remove the wires".Megaross said:Yeah, fridge will unplug, the hob will probably unplug as well but if it doesn't just whip off the electric and unscrew to remove the wires.

I recently bought a new fridge, washing machine and dryer. I installed them myself - just a simple matter of unplugging the old and plugging in the new. The cooker may be wired in in your case - or it may be a plug into an electrical socket. if the former, turn off the mains and disconnect it. Just make sure the mains is off before you start poking around.1
