Hey all - is the dongle thingme that you plug into a laptop universal or is it designated to just one individual device?  I've got a wireless contour mouse and use it at home and at work.  To do this means I have to take the usb dongle out of my home laptop and plug it into the work one and I'm paranoid that at some point I will lose it.  What i'd like to to have one permanently plugged into both laptops and then just take my work laptop and the contour mouse to work as required.  To get a brand new mouse will cost somewhere around £100 and I don't want to ask work to get me one at that cost as I work for a charity.  There are some cheaper second hand ones available via ebey but they are mostly for righties or too small or have some weird ancient still cabling that is unlikely to work with a newish laptop.

    yes but

    I don't think there's a bluetooth contour mouse.  I'll have another look.

And that would require me to figure out how to set up bluetooth on 2 different laptops with no idea if either of them are capable of this.  I'd be happy to get a wired mouse for work - if it was the right type.

You should be able to pair it with another contour mouse dongle, unlikely it will pair with another brand dongle - only one way to find that out though :)  You would have thought that the mouse would have an on board stowage port for the dongle, even my cheapies have that !

I think a previous version had a storage port but I'm happy (ish) to pop it in the slot in the laptop for transport for the time being.  I've written to the company to ask if the dongle they currently sell will work with my mouse as they don't appear to make this model any more.  I've also asked if they have any left over stock.  I'd happily get one (at a big discount!) if a new one was available.

Have a look on their website, fill in the support ticket for spare parts or give them a ring, text e-mail, snail-mail, twitter etc and see what they have to say

    £11

Don't know whether you need to re-pair each time you switch dongle but will only take a minute.
